emotional talk between Saroo & adopted mother

Before he leaves for India to search for his mother, Saroo has an emotional discussion with his adopted mother where they discuss his adoption.

She was explaining that they adopted because they wanted to help children already alive, not because she couldn't have children. But before that she said something else that we could not get. What she said was very soft and in an accent which made it hard to hear (especially for us older folks).

Does anyone know what was said (specific or summary)?

She said: her father was a bad man, he was an alcoholic, when she was 12 she was in a field in the back of the house and that moment she had a vision, felt like an electric shock, she saw a brown skin boy and she felt good for the first time.

And she said one of the reasons she fell in love with her husband that both of them wanted to adopt and help these kids.

" Mind my English" I hope that helps:)

While staring out the back door at the field, she wished the earth would swallow her up. The vision of the brown-skinned boy, which some might take as a mental breakdown, gave her life purpose. She said biological children might be no improvement or more of the same though she didn't specifically say she feared alcoholism might be hereditary--just that having one's own children was no guarantee and didn't make enough difference in the world. She felt destined to help certain other children. The whole film gives a feeling of providence, destiny, and purpose.
