Plot

1933- Carl Denham assembles a cast and crew to explore a mysterious island a myriad of miles from America. They find a prehistoric land covered with native people, dinosaurs, and a giant ape (50 ft. standing, 25 ft. hunched). After a nightmare experience, Denham and the remaining crew capture the ape to exploit for money. The ape runs amok through the city and is finally shot down. Kong falls from the top of the Empire State Building. Denham is sued by the city. The FBI creates a new secret branch known as "Monarch." The organization helps Denham escape the lawsuits as long as he leads them back to the island which Carl has now deemed, "Skull Island." Monarch discovers that on the opposite side of the island, far from the natives wall, there are several more giant apes, including a smaller albino ape. The organization leaves the island peacefully. They plan to monitor, track, and guard the island. This can be shown during the beginning credits in black and white footage/ black and white pictures with some old Denham narration. The narration can also include the famous line, "Oh, no, it wasn't the airplanes. It was Beauty that killed the beast!"

1965- After years of war and distraction, the island was kind of forgotten about. One of the biggest distractions is the mysterious creature that surfaced in 1954. Monarch spent all of their budget and man power tracking the creature with no luck. Finally during the first month of 1965, Monarch's Seismometers located around Skull Island begin reading large vibrations. The team investigates the cause. When they arrive on the island, the natives are still there with no problems. A large volcano on the opposite side of the island had exploded. Large radioactive tar pits form around parts of the island making it uninhabitable for humans. The team evacuates from the island and remains away for several years.

1971- The leaders of Monarch decide to send a brand new team in to observe the forgotten island. The team consists of soldiers and some members of the Monarch group. The team eventually runs into a giant ape (200 ft. standing, 100 ft. hunched). The group runs into other problems as well including giant bugs, a giant Spider (Kumonga), and a giant Allosaurus (Gorosaurus). They discover most of the indigenous species had died from radiation. Large bones of all different types of species are found scattered around the island. Most importantly, there are several ape skulls as well. After barely surviving the wrath of Kong, Monarch and the remaining soldiers head back to the United States. Monarch gets all of the information and concludes that the radiation from the tar pits and volcano caused two options: either exponential growth or extinction. They also concluded that the ape the team encountered is still a juvenile based on its traits and characteristics. They make a statement that this creature is not finished growing yet. The island also gets a new title, "Monster Island."

Post Credit Scene- Godzilla's dorsal spines poke out of the surface of the ocean as he swims passed the island.

Sorry for the long post, it was quick too. I will do a large re-edit and add lots of details.

Interesting, but in GODZILLA 2014, I think there would have been some mention of Kong's exploits in NYC (especially after Monarach spills their secrets to Aaron-Taylor Johnson and the rest of the military).

In my opinion, I think Carl Denham does discover Skull Island in the 1930s, but comes out alive with no proof (perhaps a few grimy pictures) and everyone doubts his story of these fantastic creatures, all except one - John Goodman's character.

But according to the producers, Monarch has many files on Kaiju. The film couldn't mention anything about Kong because Serizawa only got a limited time to speak about the current existing problem, which was Godzilla and the M.U.T.O.'s. He would have mentioned Ghidorah, Rodan, and Mothra if it was really important for the military to know. The events of 1933 were so long ago and not relevant to the current Monster attacks. Now if we had seen reporters and news anchors repeatedly talking about the monster attacks and didn't mention a thing about 1933, then I would say you cannot have the original Kong story exist in this universe. I wish they could have had a seen where a reporter says, "These attacks easily and sadly top the destruction of the 1933 New York event." I want the original story and size to exist in this universe because it is so perfect. The explanation of growth can always be explained. Either way, Denham has to be mentioned.

Sounds great but I doubt the 1933 film will be referenced at all since this is the first time people encountered monsters like Kong within this continuity.

What's missing in movies is same as in society: a good sense of work ethic and living up to ideals.

I mean regardless if they didnt mention the events of 1933, the events of this movie were not mentioned in G2014 as well. A lot of information was withheld.

But none of us know how the events of SKULL ISLAND are going to unfold. If everything takes place on the island, that is something Monarch could easily conceal or did not need to inform to the rest, since the main objective at that time was Godzilla and the Mutos. That is so much different than already having Kong going to NYC and creating havoc. They would have to have mentioned that in their oral history, or others like David Strathairn or even a civilian, would have made reference to it
