Are they going to bring back the Ann Darrow origin story for Kong?

I just think that they might as well bring her back. King Kong is sort of a giant monster beauty and the beast type story, so she is sort of the heart of it therefore. Why make an origin story of just the beast only?

I think they should bring her back and Kong should climb with her to the top of the Empire State Building or the One World Trade Center, since it's a new New York building.

But instead of Kong dying, Ann Dies, and Kong Lives... thus having his new origin story complete for the next King Kong VS. Godzilla movie. What do you think?

Basically what you want is another remake, only have Kong survive. Sorry, but I don't feel like another remake. Introducing us to a new Kong might-as-well have a new story to go with it.

Kong likely won't even be brought to civilization until GODZILLA VS KONG.

Well I guess I am not as interested in seeing an origin story without Ann. That's like having Bonnie without Clyde, or Romeo without Juliet. Or the Frankenstein Monster, without Dr. Frankenstein. What is the point of an origin story, if you are not going to use at least a good portion of the source material?

Ann's not exactly a landmark. Only two KING KONG films have actually involved the character. Three if you count Dwan in the '70s remake. She's not essential to this new story. And besides, I'm sick of Kong carrying a woman around.

If Ann ever does appear in these new movies, she'll likely be an in name only Ann Darrow. She'll probably be a government agent or part of the military as opposed to a struggling actress.

Plus, I think that Kong is way too big to be carrying a woman around. As seen in the trailer, his hands are as wide as a helicopter. If the 2017 version of Kong tried to carry a woman in his hands, like the 1976, 1933, and the 2005 Kongs, he would likely crush the woman to death in his hands.

What's wrong with you people? When there is a remake you moan that there is a lack of new ideas in Hollywood . When there is a new idea you say you would prefer a remake.

Somehow I feel like they are going to discard the events of 1933 or at least slightly alter them where Kong never left the island. I am pretty sure we won't get any mention of Ann Darrow but I think John Goodman's character may have some connection to Carl Denham, possibly a relative? The shot with him holding the camera could be a foreshadow to him coming from Denham bloodline.

Well I think that Kong needs a reason to get off the island and Ann Darrow is still the best origin story. He gets off goes to New York, then she dies, and then he goes to fight Godzilla.

Plus a lot of times when it comes to franchise characters' having their stories changed, fans complain about it. Here, this would be very much the same story and stay true to the origin, so I thought maybe fans would prefer that.

But the last thing the plot needs is a third retelling, when you already have two big movies that deal with the Ann Darrow story arc. In this brand new universe, Legendary wants to take Kong outside of that familiar narrative box, and give him some new and fresh adventures. Putting in Ann and once again going through the motions, will simply feel like a retread of Jackson's movie, for many of today's audiences.

Somehow I doubt Kong will even leave the island. Likely he'll be brought to civilization for the purpose of fighting Godzilla.

A lot of fans also complain about remakes.

They brought back Dr. Serizawa. He was different, but still. I wouldn't rule out seeing Ann Darrow again in some capacity, though I wouldn't expect her to resemble her appearances in past films.

Now what'll really impress me is if at some point during this series of Kaiju films, they decide to bring back Miki Saegusa.

I don't think so. This looks like a straight up action/adventure with little time for romance.

What's missing in movies is same as in society: a good sense of work ethic and living up to ideals.

One of the original ideas for King Kong (1976) had Dwan being a photographer documenting the Petrox expedition. The character was changed into an aspiring actress as the producers felt the realism of the film had to meet fantasy somewhere (and Dwan drifting on the ocean, to be found by the expedition, was the most fantastical idea of all).

It's interesting the female lead in this film will be a photographer. It's most likely coincidence.

I must admit the idea of Ann dying and Kong living through the ordeal is an interesting spin. But it would require him to take her - I don't think people would be interested in another "giant ape kidnaps caucasian woman". We've seen it three times. I'm ready for something new.

Tell me about it.

I say they should bring her back.

Well I know people hate remakes, but since this franchise is essentially a remake of King Kong VS. Godzilla from the 60s, I thought that remake the Kong origin part of it, was not a bad thing as well.

Plus so many people dislike the Jackson version (not me though), that I thought maybe the retelling could be improved with today's audience.

The same concept, but I doubt it will have any of the same characters or story.

And do what with it? Face it, there is no reason for another remake, especially one after only 12 years.

You can't have Ann Darrow and helicopters in the same movie.
