Is John goodman apart of monarch

I was thinking through the trailer if John goodman is apart of monarch because he said he studied for 30 years. Is that a nod to him being in monarch.

I think he'll be a part of Monarch at the end (if he survives). The events of the opening credits of Godzilla took place in the 50ies; this movie seems to be taking place in the 70ies or 80ies, so well after Godzilla's first outing.

Maybe he saw Godzilla as a kid and is trying to prove what he saw, hunting down leads on possible Monsters, which leads him to Skull Island.

I'm thinking that, at the end, he'll meet Serizawa and be brought into the Monarch fold, if he survives of course.

Punching Trolls in the face like Buzz Aldrin!

That is a good theory

That would be a sweet tie-in. Maybe he was a co-founder or something.

What's missing in movies is same as in society: a good sense of work ethic and living up to ideals.

In the Trailer Goodman says he's been researching this for 30 years, which him speaking in the 70s would mean since the 40s.

Which means he could have been aware of the effort to kill Godzilla in the 1950s.

In this interview, Goodman sort of hints of being a member of Monarch, or at least a secret government organization:

Apparently the Monarch symbol is seen in the ComicCon version of the Trailer.
