Is Rodan in this?
Potential origin for the giant Pteranodon.
shareI doubt it. Aside from some possible references to Godzilla, I assume the movie will be a strictly King Kong film. Unless Rodan is the antagonist, including him and his origin story would feel tacky.

I have to admit, that part of me would not mind seeing something like this between Kong and Rodan:

BUT, the more practical side of me thinks Rodan is better suited in a Godzilla movie. However, I would not put it out of the question that maybe Rodan or Mothra might also come from that island and that John Goodman (should he survive) takes an egg or eggs back to civilization.
My theory is that the movie ends with almost everyone getting killed by kong, only Loki and Goodman survive and he discovers Rodan´s or Monthra´s nest and takes an egg.
shareWell, in the trailer, Goodman's character does state that he has been searching for the existence of monsters for nearly 30 years. What better way to prove that theory by taking a couple of monster eggs (supposedly Rodan or Mothra or both) with him, assuming he survives this movie.
shareKeep all the Toho stuff out of this film. there's no need of it in SI.
Walking on water is like finding a non fake female profile on a dating site...a miracle!
Actually, the premise would fit better. Gareth Edwards wanted his Godzilla as a "grounded" movie. I am thinking this film will follow suit. If a Rodan or a Mothra species existed in Skull Island, that would tie up a lot of loose ends and keep this as "grounded" as possible. Otherwise, we might have to deal with the prospect of other islands with prehistoric denizens. That idea would actually resemble more of a Toho universe!
And as I stated before, I do not want to see a full grown Rodan or Mothra in SI and taking on Kong. But I would not mind that their origins existed on that island, via eggs or young hatchlings, that Monarch kept, then later on would take on Godzilla.
It is all guesses and speculation at this juncture.
Coming in 2019... MechaKingKong v. King Kong. You heard it here first.

No idea. It seems that based off the viral marketing that Kong is not the only giant animal on the island.
What's missing in movies is same as in society: a good sense of work ethic and living up to ideals.
You know, all these monsters, I mean two so far, have retconned origin stories,
Rodan pretty much always looked like a prehistoric beast most of all the Kaijus out there.
Having pterosaur looking Kaiju living on a island where those type of organisms still
survive have sense to me.
Also, I want to point out two things that are not really proving anything,
but may sound interesting :
- Godzilla trailers were very misleading in a sense that we saw scenes with Godzilla
in trailers, and in movie those were scenes with MUTOs or Godzilla fighting them.
What I want to say, well, maybe when movie comes out, well helicopter would not be
downed by a Kong's hand, as a matter of fact, not downed by a Kong at all...
- Thing from the latest poster, is not a silhouette of a creature itself,
rather skull from certain creature (many say it is water creature, I want to
think it is redesigned Rodan skull), attached to a ancient Mesopotamian figurine,
and to tail of something third...
