Can this film outgross Peter Jackson's King Kong? (adjusted/unadjusted)

The Peter Jackson's King Kong grossed $218mil in US and $550mil world wide; ($292 mil in US and $736 mil world wide adjusted). At that time, it was considered a box office disappointment by many critics

Special effects in Peter Jackson's King Kong was very poor and amateur for me. The landscape of skull islands was created by CGI, rather than live filmed, and looks very fake. While the dinosaur stampede was one of worst sequences in any major big budget films.

Actually at the time it became Universal Studio's fourth highest grossing release.

What's missing in movies is same as in society: a good sense of work ethic and living up to ideals.

There is no way it is going to outgross Peter Jackson's movie. His film was setup as the big end-of-the-year event film similar to Star Wars: The Force Awakens and the LOTR films. And it barely had anyone competition at the time of release.

Skull Island coming out in March is where it is gonna be facing so much competition like Logan and Sleeping Beauty.

Personally, I think this movie will make at least over 500 million when everything is said and done. Really, what we need is a great 2nd trailer for the film.

The level of Hype needs to be raised.

The second preview is rumored to be released when that Fantastic Beasts movie opens. Hopefully it will leak online sooner than that.

Don't forget China.

When Peter Jackson's Kong was released in O5 China was a blip on the BO radar. It ended there with 12.6 million. Fast forward to 2014, Godzilla ended its China run with 77.6 million. With KSI's Godzilla connection, I see it easily topping $100 in China alone, and doing very well overall in the Asian markets. I doubt KSI will hit 1B worldwide, but I can see it landing in the 850M range.

Or maybe I'm just too optimistic!

Don't care. I just hope it does well enough so they don't pull the plug on GODZILLA VS KONG.
