Should've used IMAX
Would've been awesome if some of the film was shot with IMAX camera's. Since it's shot digitally and will be released in 3D, which I think is a pity because 3D makes the screen look smaller, digital IMAX also would've been cool. And then I specifically mean the digital 3D IMAX camera, not the Alexa IMAX since that's just an Alexa 65 with the IMAX name labeled on it lol. Then again, still 3D... Although some audiences are lucky that their theaters give them the option to choose the format they see the film in...
Just imagine, whatever Kong's first scene is, possibly the one with him standing there with helicopters approaching, seeing the screen expanding to IMAX during that scene would've been glorious. Fingers crossed they'll use IMAX on future installments because if there are (monster) blockbusters that should be shot in IMAX, they're King Kong and Godzilla. Pain in the butt to animate them of course but there's nothing better than pushing the boundaries when it comes to filmmaking.
Now that Kodak can handle 65mm in London I really hope they'll shoot there for a sequel, because shooting the entire film on 65m and IMAX is next level. Thankfully, Nolan is already doing that with Dunkirk! I wouldn't be surprised if more people want to shoot their films like that because of the incredible picture quality.
Ah just the idea of seeing King Kong in full IMAX.. Would've been incredible
War, what is it good for?
