AWESOME!

I think this works so well not only because of the cast (both leading and supporting) but also because of when everything is set in. I was wondering if this was going to be modern (today) and how it would work, but seeing it set back in the 80s makes it just perfect and is great for nostalgia as well. I miss the 80s.

The only thing I'm trying to understand is why they can use the language they use in this show, but censor "ass" and "bareback" and blur out COVERED body parts in Law & Order. Makes absolutely no sense to me.

Anyway, I really am enjoying this show so far, and I saw it's only a mini-series right now. If it works well enough, I hope they make it a regular series (such as, after they find the money [or don't], they can work on another "big" scheme).

Agreed!
I haven't read the books, and I thought I wouldn't like it. But I loved every second of the 1st episode, hope they'll keep it up.

The characters, the atmosphere - fantastic job!

I had the opposite reaction. The commercials made the show look cool, funny, and exciting, but that wasn't the case when I finally saw the premiere. The dialogue is all right at best -- there was nothing really memorable about it, but it did serve its purpose in moving the the story forward. And the characters aren't really likable either.

I have a feeling that this is going to be one of those shows where the books are much more entertaining than its adaption.

I caught the author on the radio last week talking about his new book and the show and it sounded like it was worth a look. I'm really glad I did because 99.5% of the first episode was an absolute hoot (no TV so I'm a bit behind). I'm not all that wild about the level of violence but that's just me.

Since I'm from a small town about a hour east of Dallas there's an awful lot of the show that looks/sounds familiar plus I remember the 80s with a great deal of fondness so my first impression is that six episodes isn't gonna be anywhere near enough.
