Almost 3 hrs and no character development

The main characters never grew throughout the film. They were scum *beep* when the film started and still trash when the film finished. Maybe it's just a nod to the hopelessness of today's white trash youth, but I didn't find it particularly engaging.
Then there's the missed opportunity of developing any of the carney crew. They had that stupid introduction in the van that kindergarteners do and after that no development. No supporting cast members stands out. How does a director even accomplish that in a 3 hour film? A guy running around with his junk out is not my idea of creating a good supporting cast. Amateurish at best.

I don't think this was that type of film. This film was about Star's journey x

I agree. This movie completely fccking sucked.

There was no pay off, nothing ever happened. Why was Shia's character so upset that she 'fccked a guy' if he was just using her anyways.

While it was entertaining and interesting at times. It ended with like literally nothing major happening, feel like I just wasted 3 hours watching a bunch of disgusting kids act like jackasses.

There was character development. The main characters might not have grown but throughout the film but they're not trying to grow. That's not what the film is.

They're all tearaways from various backgrounds. Impoverished youth for the most part. They pick up stragglers and the intimation, from them picking up Star, is that from her background (abusive family relationship etc) you can deduce that all of the others in the van have had similarly bad upbringings and that's why they've chosen to flee their homes.

So yeah, there's no 'growth' so to speak, but that's not really the point. They're all teenagers mostly just finding themselves and trying to figure out what to do. I felt that even though the scenario (magazine subscriptions door to door) was a bit weird, the interaction between them and the way it was made was EXACTLY why the film worked and felt real.

Yeah, it also didn't have any aliens.

So?
