Finally - Proof that only trashy, low-class people listen to rap music

...and steal someone's well-cared for dog to selfishly take it on the road, with no real care except maybe food from a gas station, while trying to get it high from weed.

The film was strangely interesting; I did watch from beginning to end..only to see where it ended up.

Clearly, it's seedy...focusing on a band of misfits who IMHO don't fit into society in general or are from lower class homes.

This isn't just 'kids having fun'. It's 'anything goes' without regard to any type of morality and this is why America is doomed if we do not have better jobs and education that doesn't have professors degrading and intimidating students based on who they voted for.

This is not the future anyone should want. Blech.

Not very original, but 'We accept the love we think we deserve.' Brilliant.

Republicans? I think you meant Democrats don't care about education. The dumber people are the more they'll rely on the state to take care of them. Common mistake. Don't feel bad.

reply

I think they were all dropouts one way or another. Low morality was a common theme. Especially disappointed with Jake when he stole that ring from that gentle rich woman. You knew that soon enough all the crew will all be dead or in prison

reply

Let me guess. You're a Trump turd.

I loved this movie but that music is the most unintelligent pile of crap to ever pass through speakers. I mean, just try and be aware of what you are listening to as opposed to getting hypnotized by the beat. It lacks substance and is really quite an embarrassing form of music.

reply

Welcome to 2016, where young people brand themselves as unique by getting the same tattoos everyone else has, and music is just garbage.

We can all be vulgar, we all like having sex, most of us have been violent at one point or another, and a lot of us enjoy illicit substances. Why you would need music to constantly reinforce and glorify these common human activities I will never know. Not to mention, most of the background music sounds like a Gorilla beating on a bathtub. Obviously my opinion is subjective and means nothing in the large scheme of things, but honestly, I think if you look at the entire history and evolution of music as an art form, I do t think it's too crazy to assume that rap music is OBJECTIVELY horrible.

I agree but the modern rap scene isn't really anything like "Straight Outta Compton". I'm sure some listeners can relate to it, but most people I know can't relate to the material but think they enjoy it anyway. Maybe it's vicarious for them, I'm not sure.

reply

You don't know *beep* about rap. You can't just listen to a couple of songs and judge an entire genre.

reply

No, but you can listen to a few songs and judge about 95% of the genre. As for the other 5%, I think I'll stick to something that actually involves instrumentation.

Do you understand what "proof" mean? One FICTIONAL example is not a general proof of anything. However, you could DISPROVE a stupid blanket statement like this by finding ONE person who likes rap and is intelligent and high-class.

"Let be be finale of seem/ The only emperor is the Emperor of Ice Cream"

Rap is the kind of music that most young people listen to today, regardless of their economic background and there are many different types of rap and hip hop music so it's foolish to lump it all together as you did. It would have been dishonest not to use a lot of it in the soundtrack. But I'm surprised you didn't notice that the kids in the van also sing along with other styles of music, including country, dance pop, and modern rock, as well as rap. I think this movie has one of the best and most diverse sountracks I’ve ever heard, with music that perfectly fits what’s happening on screen, and it illustrates the open-mindedness to various styles of music that I’ve noticed in a lot of young people today.

reply

diverse sountracks ? seriously i thought this is about rap/hiphop movie

reply

There is a lot of good rap/hip hop music in the movie, but there are also songs by Steve Earle, Calvin Harris and Rihanna, The Raveonettes, Mazzy Star, Carnage, Bonnie Prince Billy, Lapsley, Lady Antebellum, Bruce Springsteen, Razzy Bailen, and Raury - none of them are rappers. You can see all the songs listed in the "Soundtrack" section for this movie.

reply

I agree with you. There were various genre of music played throughout the movie like the Calvin Harris one & a few others which definitely sounded good along with the scenes.
These people are definitely one-track minded haters of Club HipHop music & thus the idiotic responses.

I liked the movie, am a very strong liberal (basically a socialist), have been on the fringes my whole youth and adult life (mostly social, but now economic, too), like some rap, and I still hated the rap music in the movie (so don't stereotype, people). Felt myself dropping IQ points each time there'd be a new rap song and the "kids" would chant along to it, all groupthink style. Lyrics were so stupid, I'd have figured street smart kids like those would be into more intelligent music/rap. I'd say they probably just liked the beat, but yeah, they were chanting along to it, too. That typical materialistic "hustle, get money, get respect" depressing, macho "alpha" crap I can't relate to. Made them seem like a cult. Oh well, at least the girls in the movie were nice to look at. Katness :-)

Also, maybe its just because I'm an introvert, but did anyone else feel exhausted at the end of the movie (and I don't mean from the runtime)? Can't imagine spending all my time around other people like that, like in a van - would sap my energy quick. All that stimulation/noise. No wonder bands break up. Having to work a 9-5 job and be around Type A, corporate a-hole bully Republicans all day was draining enough. Hell is other people, as they say lol Luckily I never went "postal/full metal jacket"...but I thought about it. Good thing for them I hate violence.

Damn, I totally failed to convey how much that "Yup/Nope" rap song irritated me lol

Did I properly convey it?

Everyone chant: "Nope!"

Will I try again?

Yup!

I know people all have different tastes, but how anyone could like that "song" is beyond me. Sorry if that makes me sound old, but that's how I feel. As soon as they put that song on, I'd be like Star, find a car or truck passing by, hightail it out of there, and never look back. Find me a crew with good taste in music. Even though I'd hate to leave Katness behind - damn she was hot. And even though I've always wanted to smoke weed (sheltered af).

Sure, I know life can be hard (believe me, you have no idea...don't let my quirky, sheltered white guy facade fool you - its just a coping mechanism for being as broken as they come), I hate a self righteous conservative hardass or that orangutan POS Trump as much as the next guy, but would I knock the afro pick off ya chickenhead if you stepped to me all "gangsta" and told me 'bout how you hustlin'? Yup! Would I feel bad? Nope!

Damn, I'm throwing shade, son. Fa shizzle.

But yeah, I wish I could find who wrote and/or recorded that song and drown them in a bathtub. Would they enjoy it? Nope! Would I enjoy it? Yup!

Think I'm getting the hang of writing songs like that...kinda fun lol So maybe I wouldn't drown anyone. Pussying out lol But yeah, too bad I'm more into rock, pop, and punk.

If I was there, I'd have chanted "Yup" at all the "Nope" parts and vice versa. 'Cuz I'm just quirky and subversively rebellious like that - too fly for a white guy :-P
