A masterpiece

I just finished watching this. I was in awe of how the movie is able to maintain his grace and lyricism from beginning to end. All the scenes feel at the same time so alive, so real, and yet so ethereal. It feels some time like a doc and some time like something worthy of Malick. And what a soundtrack...

I always liked Andrea Arnold but I had my concerns with her -- I loved the concept of Red Road (the voyeurism and the obsession), but the story became too quickly just something a bit usual about loss (even if the twist was pretty good). Fish Tank was great, but it's mostly his third act (where the lyricism really transcends the social) that I found stellar. American Honey is basically as good as Fish Tank's third act, 2 h 45 long. It's Andrea Arnold's culmination of her previous works -- best film of the year if you ask me. Bravo !

It reminded me of Harmony Korine and Terrance Malick, mixed with Arnolds usual bravura yet intimate filmmaking. She gets better and better.

I made a similar masterpiece this morning after a good Saturday breakfast

It won't be for everyone, but I agree that it's a masterpiece. It's an absolute cinematic experience - raw, true, beautiful, emotional, resonant. I loved every minute.
