And they made the black ranger into an Asian guy ( they probably thought it was cool to throw an Asian guy in there)
Zack came first, but many people forget the 2nd black ranger, Adam, was Asian. Adam was the black ranger a lot longer than Zack, and remains the longest-serving black ranger on the series (and after Tommy and Billy, the longest serving cast member) and was in the first two movies. Adam brought more depth and character to the black ranger, his only issue is he didn't come first.
I like to think of this movie's "Zack" as a hybrid of both Zack and Adam. It's a way of having the best of both world's. We get the original name Zack, but with a lot of Adam's traits and character.
while getting rid of the Asian female to play the yellow ranger.
The original Yellow Ranger in the pilot was Latina, but left due to wanting a pay raise. And Trini is a Mexican name.
maybe whoever did the damn casting thought that Mexicans weren't getting enough spotlight?
I think the people who are anti-PC/anti-diversity put more thought on diversity than the people they accuse of being pro-diversity/PC. I am willing to guarantee that in most cases, when black/Asian/Latino actor gets cast in a role that was at some point played by a white actor, it's merely a coincidence, and that the casting directors didn't put much thought into casting someone of a difference race. It's the people who seem to have a issue with other races that accuse them of being "too PC" when it's usually not the case.
