Yeah, this could easily flop. (Update)
(Since I posted this topic a few things have happened. They have indeed released a new trailer that I believe has added a great deal of hype to this movie. Also, King Arthur has changed release dates so now PR is contending with Chips and Life, both of which I think have less broad appeal than PR. So I am now cautiously optimistic about the movie performing well enough to warrant a sequel. I do still think Beauty and the Beast will be a massive hit and that PR will have to fight for a #1 spot on it's opening.)
Not only that but flop hard, because March next year is absolutely stacked.
First will come Logan, which is highly anticipated as the final performance by Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.
Then there is Beauty and the Beast, and if Jungle Book was any indicator, this could be a heavy hitter as well.
One week before Power Rangers, comes Kong, Skull Island. Kong is a cultural icon, the new movie boasts an amazing cast and it's well known that they are setting up a shared universe with Godzilla.
And still yet, Power Rangers opens next to a new King Arthur movie which could also prove to be tough competition.
It seems to me, only hardcore fans will definitely be in line for Power Rangers, and casual movie goers are going to have a buffet of big options to choose from.
Unless the next trailer is nothing short of phenomenal, I don't think it looks good.
