Why do no-name directors get hired?

There are competent, affordable directors out there yet studios will still bank on someone without a track record.

Easier to hide the body afterwards that way.

Whatever you are, be a good one.

Beacuse they work for cheap. A well known director would want a big fat paycheck. New filmmakers are hungry, and will work for cheap

Anna Foerster has a background as director of cinematography. She was also on the directing team of popular TV shows, Outlander and Criminal Minds.

I've seen Outlander, and the season finale Anna directed is superb. Anna is truly badass. She is not a nobody, even though you haven't heard of her.

Also, in this day and age, why not Google her name or use Wikipedia? Her name is right there.

Every director begin has a no name director....

Yeah, why did Universal hire that no name Colin Trevorrow? That sure backfired lol.

Hire a no-name FEMALE to direct a well-known action packed movie franchise just to jump on the PC bandwagon – and what do you get? A guaranteed flop at the box office.

They work cheap, are more easily bullied and controlled, and it's your best chance of getting something special, as early efforts from fresh directors are often outside the box. Sad truth is so much as we the fans love these movies, they are just above the direct to video drain, and these are the sort of films they use to break in directors with potential before handing them a big budget.

Another type of no-name director is the ones who've done a lot of commercials, music videos and tv shows, and have proven they can be professional, run a crew, and come in on time and under budget. Sometimes you just want a job done right, not artfully.
