They could of always hit the block button or better still turn their computers off,
Walking away from their computers at the beginning was their only possible option, but I say possible because "Laura" most likely would have found a way to stop them even then. But, by the time they realized there was actually a problem it was too late.
As for blocking, it wouldn't have worked. "Laura" was obviously able to control anything on their computers, so it wouldn't have mattered, anyway.

Yeah what the guy said above is true. Laura somehow could have stopped them from blocking her account.

We're talking about a paranormal entity......you really think it'd be that easy? You walk away or turn your computer off, it'll just appear behind you and slit your throat, or make you hang yourself or something. It wanted revenge.
