Elvis was the greatest scam in history. Never wrote a song. Never played an instrument.
Just a glorified karaoke singer who danced.
No wonder he tried to ban the Beatles from America.
Just a glorified karaoke singer who danced.
No wonder he tried to ban the Beatles from America.
"Just a glorified karaoke singer who danced"
And he was the best doing it. He was a entertainer, nothing wrong with that.
Fair play.
shareFor real Rihanna does the same thing except she barely has any vocal talent and can't dance and she is adored.
shareYeah Rihanna is just attractive, that’s it.
Nothing else matters to people who don’t care about real musicians.
Yeah. I absolutely agree.
How about that scene where all those women very much drooling at Elvis dancing and moving his pelvis, trying to reach out to him with the screaming. That was hilarious. I can imagine just being there with all that screaming happening would have made it almost near impossible to hear any of Elvis' music. lol
Ha yeah good point. All lust no appreciation for the music.
shareI read Guralnick's 1st bio on Elvis and he recounts a young male Elvis fan who attends his 57 concert and he did not hear a single melody or riff or tune from Elvis and the band, all he heard were screaming girls all throughout! There was another incident when 9,000 fans had a riot after the concert and stormed and eviscerated the stage, none was left of it as they took every scrap they could get their hands on.
shareAnd yet he was a better performer than any of those who wrote those songs
shareYeah like Britney Spears. Just a singer.
shareSpears is not in the same league as Elvis, Sinatra, Tina Turner, Tony Bennett or Dean Martin. None of this younger generation are as talented as the older generation of entertainers. Oh, have one more for ya........Sammy Davis Jr who could sing, dance and act.
shareIt's always hilarious to hear knuckleheads slag off an entire generation, and insist previous generation(s) were so much more talented.
Singing, dancing, athletics, respect for elders. . .it's a ridiculous sentiment that goes (at least) all the way back to the ancient Greeks. Google a guy named Socrates, who expressed many of the same complaints.
TL/DR: you're an idiot. That is all.
Most of the new artists also don't write songs. Neither do they sing live. Elvis was hell great of a singer and performer Lot of artists have been influenced by his personality and on stage charisma including the Beatles That itself speaks volumes. Oh yes, he also played the guitar and piano.
shareHe could play a little guitar and piano. https://render.fineartamerica.com/images/rendered/default/metal-print/9.5/14/break/images-medium-5/elvis-presley-on-piano-while-waiting-for-a-show-to-start-1956-the-phillip-harrington-collection.jpg
You've been debunked!
A picture of him posing on a piano turns him into Liberace? I think not.
shareyou're arguing with yourself, the point you made in no way counters what the person you are responding to said.
shareThe person said nothing, just shared a photo of him with a piano?
Never heard Elvis play it.
I've replied to you extensively proving Elvis did play both the guitar and piano, his guitarist Scotty Moore attests to this including bass and a little drums. Yet you're still prolonging this thread. You're a troll.
shareI have had enough of this thread, yet Tyler replied 16 hours ago to a comment I made a month ago.
shareThere's video of his last shows, weeks before he died. He's playing piano.
shareSo he learned in the end nice.
shareHe learned to play both guitar and piano as a child.
shareFair enough, still didn’t
write his own songs.
So? Most don't. You don't have to like him. But these lies are another.
shareWhat lies? He never wrote his songs. Did he even play the instruments on his records?
shareYes all his 50s records he played rhythm and sometimes the bass guitar which I have told you repeatedly.
shareYou also said MJ did not write his own songs, when he did. So i don’t know if i can believe you on that one.
shareBecause he didn't really, if he did then Elvis is of equal a song writer yet I don't even give him that. I've read too many MJ biographical books to think he is a song writer and composer like The Beatles were. He is of similar caliber to Elvis, both are great producers and arrangers and have collaborated with song writers in which they too are credited but the burden of the writing relies on the other.
I have far more credibility, why? I'm not here trolling.
You think that's bad, Sinatra couldn't even dance! Sinatra, Elvis, Ella Fitzgerald, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion-- what a bunch of hacks!
shareWell at least Elvis could dance and act i’ll give him that.
shareElvis literally had one of the best voices in the history of music. I get it, it’s cool to have what you think is an interesting hot take, but people who actually make music for a living all have a great deal of respect for Elvis and what he brought to music.
shareI don’t think so.
