Elvis was the greatest scam in history. Never wrote a song. Never played an instrument.

Just a glorified karaoke singer who danced.

No wonder he tried to ban the Beatles from America.

Elvis singing level: Boss

Song writing: zero

You're an outstanding troll. I will not stand in your way.

Elvis could play both the guitar and piano (bass as well since he played the bass part in You're So Square, Baby I Don't Care since his bassist gave up during the recording sessions because he couldn't get the riff part), but he was no Jimmy Page. Still, how does that constitute as zero to you?

He played guitar, bass and piano, and often toyed with instruments like the drums, accordion and ukulele. He was credited for co-writing a few songs.

reply

Fair enough he didn’t play on his albums though did he?

reply

Actually he did play on a number of his albums, especially when he was still at Sun Records and RCA in the 50s. He also recorded as a bassist for You're So Square, Baby I Don't Care because Bill Black his bassist couldn't get the riff part of the song and gave up. Elvis took over and did it instead. Read Last Train to Memphis by music journalist Peter Guralnick and you can watch the 3 vids below as well.

He played the piano on his later albums.

reply

They didn't call him The King for nothing.

reply

King of the aliens who abducted him maybe.

reply

Hey, a**hat JBran. Guess what?

There are songwriters who don’t sing nor play instruments or do so badly.

There are instrumentalists who don’t sing nor write songs or do so badly.

And yes, there are singers who don’t write songs nor play instruments or do so badly.

So place it where the sun don’t shine…and do so badly.

reply

Hey idiot.

They don’t get called the king like Elvis does.

reply

Actually, Elvis co-wrote several songs. Here's a link...

Watch Schilling and Krogh tell the story on youtube, they were there when Elvis met Nixon. Elvis had a serious badge collection. When he discovered that a friend had a Narcotics badge, he wanted one too. He first went to the head of the FBI to get it to no avail.

Finally, he decided to get it from the President himself. He basically snowed that president to get that badge for his collection. He didn't do anything after getting it. Schilling, Priscilla, and the Memphis Mafia all state that Elvis didn't hate the Beatles and had no plans to spy on them or anyone. He simply wanted the badge and said what he said to get it. Stop making it more than it was. It was simply a badge collection. I highly suggest you watch the video, very very entertaining to listen to both Schilling and Krogh.

The movie Elvis & Nixon was fairly accurate though has some inconsistencies as most bios and retellings do.

Hmm, what flavor of MC Troll is OP, I wonder:

A) Millennial whose entire worthless contribution to the world is to declare every icon and legend of the past 100 years "overrated"? And thinks he's so cool, clever and daring to rush to an online site to declare it?

B) GenZ, who has so little cultural history or knowledge that he literally doesn't know that 90% of the most famous singers of all time never, ever wrote their own songs?

C) Foreign national troll farmer, who camps out at sites like this one to trash and bash any American or in some cases British icon and legend.

D) Bored, lonely, unemployed, antisocial loser who shitposts because they either thrive on the negative attention or have chosen arguing with people as a way to pass the time in an otherwise boring, uneventful life?

reply

A) The Beatles are miles better than Elvis. Not overrated.

B) The Beatles wrote their own songs.

C) I am British, so are the Beatles.

D) I have a job and i’m posting on my iPhone 13 Pro Max from work whilst listening to The Beatles.

reply

The Beatles were the greatest, but no one can sing like Elvis could.

reply

Fair enough.

reply

The Beatles always maintained that they were big admirers of Elvis.

reply

Yeah and Elvis apparently played a few Beatles songs in his later shows.

reply

Yeah and Elvis apparently played a few Beatles songs in his later shows.

reply

Yes, he sang Harrison's "Something" in his 1973 Aloha from Hawaii show, for example. I believe the Beatles had covered at least one of his songs as well. Well, the songs were not written by Elvis, of course, but the Beatles sang them following Elvis' treatment rather than the treatment of earlier singers.

reply

The Beatles would disagree with you, like Lennon said, before Elvis, there was nothing.

reply

I vote for D.

reply

Probably why you are on acid.

reply

E) Pathetic loser with overpriced iFone who think he's clever.

reply

Were you spelling multiple words incorrectly on purpose?
Or are you just stupid?

reply

The greatest vocalists of all time were not "singer songwriters". How is it a scam if you have a perfect voice, close to operatic in range, but don't write songs? The "singer songwriter" is a thing that arose in the 70s, Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne, James Taylor, etc. Now it's expected, isn't it? Taylor Swift writes good songs and sings well. Is she superior to Elvis? Ask her. Which one of these multitalented people do you think is more talented than Elvis, with a better voice? Elvis was hurt when John Lennon criticized him for wasting his talent by making movies. But the Beatles only existed because Elvis came first. Ask Paul McCartney. Same with Springsteen and many others. Elvis was their inspiration to become a musician.

reply

Now i know you’re kidding. Elvis was pretend playing the guitar wasn’t he? On the Ed Sullivan show too.

Actually you can sing, wrote songs and play them yourself way before the 70’s.

The Beatles.

reply

No, I'm talking about the solo "singer-songwriters" that became the big thing in the 70s. You seemed to be referring to them when you said it's a scam if you only sing. I wondered if you literally thought James Taylor was better than Elvis because he wrote songs. We know the Beatles wrote songs. They also did cover versions. They also had less vocal ability than Elvis. Ask Paul McCartney. And yes, holding the guitar was part of Elvis's stage act. We know that! So he knew three chords. He admitted it. He played electric guitar on his 1968 comeback special. Prop, three chords, no one is bothered. No one is saying he was a skilled guitarist. It's the voice that made him famous. It's cute though that you defend your position. Many people disliked Elvis. It's not new.

reply

Well fair enough. I don’t really dislike him, just not a super fan.

reply

Then why are you still here continuing to troll despite many evidence against your accusations?

reply

Not trolling, because people should know the truth.

reply

Truth? All your 'truths' are lies. It's ok not to be his fan but all the bs about not playing an instrument are lies and you know it. Hence why you did not respond once to my many posts disproving you.

reply

He never wrote the songs.

reply

So? So did mj and sinatra.

reply

MJ wrote and composed his own songs. Look it up.
That is why he is the King of Pop.

”According to the R.I.A.A., the governing body that certifies Gold, Platinum, and Multi-Platinum Record Sales, (Recording Industry Association of America) the Leading all time Artist in Record Sales is ELVIS PRESLEY.”

”John Lennon said: "Before Elvis there was nothing".

”Elton John said: "There is no one greater as an artist on this earth, Elvis was my inspiration... he is the Man. Period."

”DEEP PURPLE Frontman: ELVIS PRESLEY 'Was The Greatest Singer That Ever Lived'”

”Opera star Kiri Te Kanawa told Michael Parkinson that the young Elvis had the greatest voice she had ever heard. The tenor Placido Domingo similarly enthused in an interview in Spanish magazine Hola in 1994: “His was the one voice I wish to have had.”

Listen to Elvis sing “Surrender” & “It’s Now Or Never” on a good sound system…then tell us his voice wasn’t Heaven sent!

BTW, Did Pavarotti compose any of his operas?

reply

Add to the above:

”-Elvis has been on the charts more times than any other artist or group.

-Elvis has the most hits in the Top 100, the Top 40, The Top 10, and has had 32 Number 1 Records.

-Elvis is the only artist inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, The Country Music Hall of Fame, The Gospel Music Hall of Fame, and The Rythm and Blues Hall of Fame.”

A person doesn’t achieve all of the above by fakery & “being the greatest scam in history.”

I would refer to you as being a first-class jealous P***K who can’t see the forest for the trees!

reply

THANK YOU! He likes to ignore all my posts that verifiably counter and prove him otherwise.

reply

I’m watching one of the silly Elvis movies he hated doing, “Kissin’ Cousins. Normally I don’t watch anything with a rating of less than 6.5. This mishap rated 5.2/10. But, as soon as he starts to sing…that’s what it’s all about! No one, absolutely no one could sing a love song as Elvis did. He had a most unique voice. You never had to guess who was singing when it was Elvis. I believe he was blessed by God and Elvis was one of God’s gifts to us.

People should do research about his voice; why he was able to sing any genre of music from gospel, rhythm & blues, rock, easy listening, even being an operatic tenor! “Surrender”, “It’s Now Or Never” proves it. He could sing from baritone to falsetto. He sang from the soul…

A good read about his uniqueness:

reply

Not really. If you read his biography, MJ is a good producer and changes some things but the burden of the writing and composition is always with the other. If MJ is a song writer, then so is Elvis along with Red West for at least 2 songs. What can't be denied is like MJ. Elvis was a fantastic producer and arranger.

reply

Elizabeth Taylor tagged MJ with “King of Pop”. What else was left to tag him with as Elvis had the title of “The King of Rock & Roll”?

I’ll take the following any day over “King of Pop”!

”According to the R.I.A.A., the governing body that certifies Gold, Platinum, and Multi-Platinum Record Sales, (Recording Industry Association of America) the Leading all time Artist in Record Sales is ELVIS PRESLEY.”

”-Elvis has been on the charts more times than any other artist or group.

-Elvis is the only artist inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, The Country Music Hall of Fame, The Gospel Music Hall of Fame, and The Rythm and Blues Hall of Fame.”

reply

What else was there? Elvis had ALL the other tags. Why don’t you open your closed mind and realize you’re ignorant and hard headed when it comes to comparing MJ to Elvis. It’s impossible to compare them because MJ would lose. MJ is remembered for the Moonwalk. 50 years from now it will be “Michael Jackson who?”. But, Elvis’s name will never die.

You didn’t answer my question, so I’ll ask it again.

”BTW, Did Pavarotti compose any of his operas?”

We can also inquire did Mario Lanza?

Did Plácido Domingo and José Carreras?

Singers writing their own songs didn’t really come into vogue until the 1960’s.

reply

You know he wasn't pretend playing. I've posted many videos and accounts from musicians that he in fact played. All his 50s records had him playing rhythm and bass.
