They are trying to make Cassandra look really unattractive.

She was the absolute opposite of sexy in the first hour. She dressed like a sheltered 10 year old with no fashion sense.

reply

Her dress style has always been very youthful and conservative. It matches her personality.

reply

One step at a time. She got rid of the horrid leggings. Also, with that figure I think the OP is the only one who is comparing her to a 10 year old.

reply

I actually miss her tights and leggings.

reply

I don't see "conservative" at all. Her outfits are a fashion disaster.

reply

Her outfits suit her character I think.

---------End of Line.

reply

They don't need to try.

reply

I'm sure Melissa McCarthy is your idea of a sexy woman.

reply

The actress is in her mid 30s. I think they are trying to make her look ypoung.

Why do women have to dress sexy? Do you expect men to dress sexy at all times? Because none of the guys on this show do.

Making an observation is not causing trouble. From what I've seen, the rabble rouser here is you. You're the troll trying to stir people up with ridiculous posts and insulting language.

Agreed.

Those accounts are best ignored since the posts rarely say anything worthwhile.

She doesn't have to dress sexy, just not like a mental patient. RR doesn't dress sexy and her style is fitting of a woman. Cassandra looks like Rose from Two and a Half men, tacky fashion and all.

reply

I've worked with a lot of mental patients. Trying to insult someone with that kind of reference is disgusting. They dress like anyone else. And as I said, her look was very popular once upon a time, so it isnt crazxy, its retro.

reply

I agree about the reference to mental patients as an insult. As for retro, they always take the worst fashions from different decades and combine them. There were good fashions that have been completely ignored. Just because you put two different styles together and call it fashion, doesn't make it desirable. Unfortunately, some people follow the "fad fashion" way too closely.

I have to agree with this. The way Cassandra dresses is very odd to say the least. Some of the... I don't even know what to call them... they're like jackets, but they're made out of wool it looks like, well those things look like something a 85 year old granny would wear. And some of her clothing, (especially her tops) look like something that came right out of the 1930's. It looks very out of place for a show that takes place in modern times.

Look at Baird. She doesn't dress "sexy" but her clothing still looks good and fits with the time period of the show. With Cassandra most episodes the thing that goes through my mind when I see her is: "What the hell are you wearing?!?"

If the show was set in 1930 and Cassandra was 85 years old then her clothing would make sense.

reply

She's a "nerdy girl".

They moved away from the cliched "ponytail and glasses" look that was the accepted nerdy girl appearance in the 1990s, and went for something new.

Cassandra favors the boho look, but she is too uptight about it. That lacy, flouncy, old-fashioned look is pretty common. Look at Anthro or Free People. But Cassandra seems to be tightly buttoned and buckled into her stuff, whereas the common fashion is for it to be flowing, loose, sort of nonchalant.

reply

Hah, we finally started watching S2 on Hulu and it seems she is favoring the ModCloth look this season. Much more uptight and still too youthful.

The art directors dress her that way ON PURPOSE! Jeez! They DO give us Fan Service in this episode when she was in a VERY tight green dress. She may be slim but she has mad curves too. Great rack and rear end for a very slim girl. Most women would kill to have a body like that.
My eyes popped out in that episode. And also where ever....as Trump would say.

reply

That's inspired!! Had not noticed that! You're right!

reply

I couldn't agree more. My six year old granddaughter dresses better.

reply

Agree. Why do female characters need to look sexy at all times? Why can't they just look average or normal?

reply

I think she does look sexy

reply

In the second episode, she looked great. Nice tight, short skirt, lots of leg, & man, that tight top - wow, reminds me of my wife's body at that age...&...40 pounds ago...

reply

She looked good this week as she dressed like a grown woman.

You must've been watching an entirely different episode than everyone else then because they had her in little more than a schoolgirl outfit most of this episode that I saw, with miniskirt, blouse, high stockings, etc. Seriously she looks ridiculous and needs to start dressing her age. She's not 16.

Sorry for just jumping in but how old is Cassandra supposed to be? I know the actress is older than what she looks like because I remember her being in Relic Hunter but from the first episode I assumed her character wasn't that much older than Ezekiel.

With that being said, I don't see how they are trying to make her look unattractive and she looks the same to me as she did in the first season.

reply

I don't know why people keep saying she doesn't look her age. She's the same age as me, 36, and she looks it. Saying otherwise just isn't true, sorry. Sure she's got tons of makeup on and is a pretty woman, but she looks like a 36-year old woman dressed like a 16-year old, nothing more.

I don't know. I always thought her character was much younger and in one episode in the first season she talked about being a teenager like it was only a few years ago. My Wife is 37 and even she thought she was only 19 or 20 and they would eventually put her together with Ezekial until I told her she was older.

I think she is just one of those people that age slowly kind of like Liz Phair was in her mid 30s and could still pass as being 20.

reply

Well, the first thing that struck me as odd in the very first episode was that these three failed to show up at the interview that got Flynn the job. And that was "ten years ago" as Flynn says. So, no matter how brainy she was 10 years ago, she had to have been at least legally employable as an adult. (Can you imagine the parents of a 15-year-old sending their kid off to work in a library that she can't tell them anything about?) So I'd say she's supposed to be at least 28-29.

But. I just watched the STEM Fair episode a few nights ago (first time through the series) and if her parents were pushing her so hard all the time, maybe she feels - maybe even subconsciously - that she has the chance to explore her inner child, or whatever bs way of phrasing it you want to use. She can wear "girly" fashions (as opposed to either "what the parents forced her to wear," which would probably have been sort of serious and grown up, or "what people consider appropriate for her current age now").

Also, the pushy parents may be a reason she's less socially developed than the others.

reply

Agreed. I hadn't watched in awhile, mainly because I got so turned off by a mid thirties actress acting and dressing like a teenager. Nothing against that actress at all, but if they wanted a character who was in early twenties why didn't they cast one !!! I watched the season finale tonight and they showed a lot of close ups of Cassandra, and yes, she looks every bit of 36.

Finally someone else who looks through their hormones and all the actress's makeup and sees the person's actual face. It never ceases to amaze me the sheer amount of people who will post things like "Wow she looks 20!" when an actress clearly doesn't. I know one example of that is over on Vikings. Katheryn Winnick, who plays Lagertha, is almost 40, and on the show easily looks 40, but everyone swears she looks mid-20s. Um, no, she really doesn't. She looks like a fit, healthy woman who takes care of herself, yes, but she does look like a mature woman of 30-something like she actually is (outside the show). In the show she looks every bit her age and then some.

reply

I do not see girls (any age) dress like that, 16 or otherwise. I'm from Southern California, and we have pretty liberal dressers here. I think her outfits make her look totally and absolutely ridiculous. Sexy is one thing, but these outfits are just awful.

reply

If that is what they are trying to do, they are failing miserably.

WE GOT MOVIE SIIIIIGN!

Agreed.

Cassandra looks just fine. It's her clothes that are really unattractive. I don't think she's worn one pretty outfit since the series started.

Although the green gown is lovely and Cassandra looked beautiful in it, she wasn't dressing as herself, so I didn't count it. She's not a ten year old picking out her clothes in the dark, so why do they have her dress as one when she's being herself?
