Javier Cámara - Brilliant Performance

Javier Cámara blew me out of the water in Episode 9 as the gentle Bernardo. I was exhausted having felt I went through everything with him in one short hour. From having to get used to living outside the Vatican, to the disgust of Kurtwell, the frustration of trying to get victims to come forward and testify, to the sometimes hopeless feel of his mission to the compassion he gave his landlady. This actor put it out there for us and he was amazing. Hope to see more of him.

What a credit to Sorrentino to put together a cast of superb actors for this series. You begin to love them all including Sorrentino who never makes an appearance but for the sheer 'heart' and intellect he put into this series.

He has some great scenes in the last episode, as well. 😃

I will look forward to them, Zwergin.

I don't want to go off on a tangent but it does make one wonder why Gutierrez suffers so much. The alcohol. The stuffed toys on his bed. His hiding in the Vatican. And maybe why Lenny sent him to deal with Kurtwell of all people.

We will have much to discuss later on :)

Hmmm....

Gutierrez spitting on Kurtwell's car window seemed to be out of character for the gentle 'Bernardo'. When he goes back to the Vatican I can see him as one of the Pope's most valuable of aides. More than Sister Mary.

But then I speculate...

It seems Gutierrez is changing. The preview for next week shows Lenny commenting to Gutierrez about how he has taken "fear and turned it into anger", so I think we are going to see a new side to Gutierrez.

Pandora78, I think this is a testament to the brilliance of Sorrentino and this series and all involved in the creation/production.

Just how many taboo subjects can this series take on and leave us breathless and in awe, never leaving us feeling repulsed, insulted or cheated? This series embodies the human condition, all of its beauty and flaws, capacity for good and evil, and potential for love and compassion. And for seeing God and the means to do it.
