Hey Expo,
The whole season aired in Europe months before USA bought the rights to it and aired it. Many European viewers have seen the whole season already. Yet, all E1-10, are streaming online on certain, non-hbo sites for USA people that don't want to wait. Sites such as,123 movies and what not. That is, how I have and some others, I believe, have watched it already in the USA. Now, on my iPad (knock on wood) I haven't had any trouble with that site (123movies). However, I don't know how safe these sites are on other devices. Not sure if I am suppose to bring these sites up here, either. Just letting you know that's how some people may know more spoilers.
As for the letters, it's as above poster explained. It will be covered in that episode (how those letters come about). The letters are in regards to the girlfriend the pope brings up to his friend, the priest (I can't remember the priest name). It's the one who lets him hide from tourists. I forget what episode that is in where the pope talks about his week with a girl he met. It may be in 3. In short but this is spoilers... the letters actually show a more sensitive side of the pope. Yet, he does stay true the church. They are given to a reporter by someone trying use them against the pope. But the evil plan backfires against this person who is forced to confess their depravity. Meanwhile, the pope's softer human side is revealed and his beautiful poetry admired by many.
Oh, as for the availability of episode 3, specifically, on demand.. I actually had trouble too, lol. Anyway, I think I got it on the HBO GO app (even though it's not available on demand). BTW, there are two 2 HBO apps in case you don't know in app stores. Which of course you need internet and a device watch it on. One is, as mentioned, HBO GO. Thats applies if you are already are a HBO subscriber with a TV provider. The other, is HBO NOW - which ask for monthly payment. That is, if you want to pay just for an independent HBO subscription without a cable subscription. So, like you would wNetflix or Hulu. Anyway, just wanted to clarify that cause I didn't know the difference between the two HBO apps at first. It's 18$ lol.

You're explanation is very much appreciated.
Tried to find sites where one could watch EP. 3, BUT they'd already been REMOVED and TAKEN DOWN for copy write issues.
And HBO GO also requires you to post PERSONAL INFO, which one doesn't want to do (because then there'd also be a way that HACKERS could find out that kind of INFO about you).
So perhaps what one needs to do is CALL them and COMPLAIN about the MISSING EPISODE that isn't there ON DEMAND YET???
This issue has also happened with OTHER SHOWS as well, like with WEST WORLD, but then the MISSING EPISODES also ended up being there AFTER the END of the SEASON. And one had also already watched them during the season unlike the case is now.
And in that CLIP of the END of the show one could also see how HAPPY the GIRL was to know how much LENNY still thought about her.
And one could also see the reason why the PLOT to DEFAME him had failed and had BACKFIRED by showing this SOFTER SIDE of him.
Also tried the other sites that said they offer a free viewing, but you also have to REGISTER and download them, which also requires other changes being made to one's computer that one isn't willing to make.
Because those kind of changes may also result in the installation of SPYWARE.
Oh well.
Have you ever seen or heard of THE CARDINAL???
It was also another good show that WON LOTS of AWARDS like one hopes this POPE SHOW will win.
