Fans

So, I'm starting this thread because I'm interested in knowing about the show's fanbase thus far. Call it simple curiosity. For me, I'm a girl... (very much a girly girl who probably wouldn't be interested in a show like this but I am!), and I'm in my early twenties. I've heard over time many say women don't understand shows such as these, you know, mob type shows with a certain premise and storyline (even war films, some say women shouldn't watch such -- I disagree here) but I have to say, I'm hooked so far. A lot of people seem to be harping on the little details and saying it's not believable but I'm liking it so far. I think it's got quite a bit of potential. Nothing is perfect but I think this is going to be good and has a fair chance of getting renewed.

All are welcome to share their thoughts!

I'm a girl in my mid twenties, three episodes in and very much liking it. This is my type of show. I know who most of the male cast are, and enjoy watching them.

I'm a girl in my late 20s and used to wonder if I was one of the few who like mob related stories but I'm not. I've met so many through the "Boardwalk Empire" fandom and the "Mob City" fandom. Most of my friends who are watching the show are women. I've like mob movies and shows since I was a kid since my dad and grandpa were fans and since I'm from an Irish/Italian family. I just find it fascinating. Plus, I've also been a fan of Ed Burns for 16 years, as he was one of my teen idols, and I had to watch it knowing he made it and very happy for him. It's gotten so much positive feedback, especially on Twitter and from critics.

So only girls are watching this. No wonder I wasn't feeling it. Prob not for me and that's fine. I'm 36 and not a female. Liked the campy over the topness of Mob City. This show is campy but it's trying not to be.

There are plenty of men that are watching the show too. Look on Twitter and Facebook and the positive tweets are from both genders. I know men watching too including my father. It's just nice pointing out that women can like genres that are typically considered more suited for men.

Girl, early 40s. But my husband is watching too, same age. I happen to like grittier shows, so anything that looks darker & grittier I will give a chance. I also like NYC-set shows, it's my city. I also like the era this one's set in although it is before my time.

Me and my husband are watching and we love it. We're early fifties and have a heck of a time finding anything entertaining to watch. Looking forward to the new fall shows.

I'm a 29 year old woman. Though it's great when shows and books are "perfectly crafted" and are filled with historical accuracies, even if not I watch what I enjoy. I was always going to watch because I've always been a fan of this genre type and I liked some of the various actors past work. Sure, some things could be better in my eyes, but, two episodes in I like it just fine.
