Yo, it ain't Crime Story

Perhaps Mr. Burns needs to go view a few episodes of the classic Michael Mann's Crime Story (86-88) starring the late Dennis Farina, a former Chicago police officer. Which also makes one wonder about this show after viewing the first three episodes, does Mr. Burns have any technical advisors on staff? Say some former police officers from the era. The show defiantly needs some dialect coaches! Especially for that bad cliché Irish brogue mumbled by Brian Dennehy (who should know better being of Irish descent).

Ed does have a lot of advisors including his own father who was a cop in the 60s and this is partly based on a scandal that happened while his father was working there when the dirty cops got busted by the FBI. Besides his dad he also had various uncles who were cops and cousins that still are. Plus, Ed was friends with Dennis Farina so I wouldn't be surprised if "Crime Story" does have an influence. Ed tried to get this made as a couple different films for 18 years so he did a lot of research going into it and wrote about it in his memoir. As for Brian that is all on him and I personally don't think it's too bad. His character supposedly immigrated as a child so his Irish dialect would be mixed with American so it shouldn't be perfect.
