Will Ed Burns direct the entire series?
If so, that would be cool (like Soderbergh and the Knick). And if it comes to blu ray, it'll sit on the shelf with the rest of his works instead of my TNT section.

shareExcept Soderbergh is a Phenomenal director which explains the superior quality of THE KNICK and Burns is a hack which explains this abortion.

Sounds personal, Acid.
shareNot really (except for the 23 minutes of my life wasted watching half this show). If I said Ryan Leaf was a *beep* QB that shouldn't have been in the NFL that would be a fact. This is sort of like that. I won't be watching anymore of this series is all.

It isn't a fact. It's your opinion and I completely disagree with it. You're entitled to think that way, but there are zero facts backing it up.
To be fair, I think Soderbergh has some winners under his belt. Sex, Lies and Videotape is one of my favorite films of all time. I think he's a fine director who generally chooses his projects wisely.
As for Mr. Edward Burns, he is shining in this. This is his baby and it's the best show I can think of in recent history. I understand it's not going to be up the alley of someone who like Duck Dynasty or The Kardashians. I also understand that some people won't enjoy the old film feel to it. It's very reminiscent of Crime Story with Dennis Farina.
Everything from the scenery, to the shots, to the focus on the actors when they're speaking and when there's silence is a testimony to Burns' capability as a great director.
I think sometimes failed artists look to someone more successful than they are and will trash them to elevate their own self-esteem. It isn't healthy. Most people have value and need to see their own self-worth without trying to minimize the efforts and successes of others. I'm not saying that this is your attempt or that you're a failed wannabe director or critic for that matter, but just that I've seen that sort of keyboard warrior troll behavior a lot. It's disheartening. Rather than allowing oneself to enjoy a great show they need to point out every imagined flaw they see with it.
Even if you don't like Public Morals, I don't understand the motivation of jumping on a message board. I only go on boards of shows that I like. For example, you'll never see me trashing Duck Dynasty on their IMDB page because I don't watch the show because it's Duck F'n Dynasty. I have better things to do with my time; like watch Public Morals.
Just saying, focus on the good. Bring good JuJu your way and good karma. You like Steven Soderbergh so much hang out on the Magic Mike XXL message board. If Mr. Soderbergh ever reads your comments he'll probably be thankful. Whereas here (no offense) you come across as a know-it-all douche. I don't think that's your intention but the whole football analogy fails on every level. I don't watch football. I can't stand it, but even I know there are statistics to assist one in grading how well a quarterback is doing. Mathematics is a universal language and a beautiful thing! It can certainly help put things into perspective when something can have a numerical value and be compared to something else. One's opinion on a certain actor or director or musical artist cannot be measured in this way. It's just an opinion.
Good day to you and may good karma smile on you.

I can't read your entire post because it is burning out my brain like a religious rant. I can only assume you are a BURNS TARDS or fangirl or sent here by the production company to salvage crap.
Of course everything is opinion but what is your point? I don't like Walking Dead, Fargo or Lost either and people love those but that doesn't make those good. Sometimes people just love escapism.
Here is an example of why I think this is bad. Compare the dynamic between him and his kid (the point at which I stopped watching this turd) to the family dynamic in something like Masters of Sex. Stuff like that is where you can really see an artist's (and I use this word generously where Burns is concerned) lack of talent.
He really should avoid scenes like this because it draws attention to what a bad cliché this crap this.
He called you a little piece of chicken.

First and foremost, I'm not a "girl" anything. I'm a woman. There's a difference. My guess is the only place you've seen a woman is when you have a handful of dollar bills and visit a strip club.
Second, the point was pretty obvious, but I'll try to dumb it down for you. You called your opinion 'fact.' Fact is an antonym of the word opinion.

That is the most basic way I can explain it to you. Hopefully, the words are small enough for you to understand.

To me, you are just another feminazi douchebag. If that term is "too small" for your high and mighty pompous ass, look it up in the urban dictionary.
Burns SUCKS, but it figures you would put him up on a pedestal.

Yes, Ed wrote & directed all the eps. He mentioned in a couple interviews there were supposed to be other directors past the first 5 but Steven Spielberg, who is a producer on this, convinced Ed to just direct the rest of season 1. I did see Ed mention there could be other guest directors if/when this gets a 2nd season and possibly Steven.
shareI kind of like how Burns has kept such strong creative control of this project. But that said, the idea of Spielberg directing an episode takes me back to when Scorsese contributed to Boardwalk Empire.
