Four episodes in, and so far so good
I've been a fan of Edward Burns ever since I saw his performance in "Saving Private Ryan", and while his indie films are sometimes mediocre, or just bad, he always bounces back with something that's at least interesting, and his dedication to indie film and small budgets are always something I've admired about him.
Now here's this tv series about cops in the 1960s, and I feel like this was the series he was born to do. Playing a morally ambiguous cop who's also a strict family man is one of those perfect roles for Burns to play, and he's also surrounded himself with good characters. My favourites by far are Brian Dennehy as the old boss Mr. Patton and Neal McDonough as his son, Rusty. Granted, some characters are a bit bland and just disappear off the radar, but that's something that even the first season of "The Wire" was guilty of, so I don't condemn the show too highly for that.
Admittedly it's still a bit early to tell how the show will fare, but as I said, so far so good.
