Don't believe its 1960s NYC for a second

Yes, I grew up there during that time, they've created a different world: the city was dirtier, grimier, everyone smoked and there were cars everywhere.

This looks like a back-lot studio production counting every penny.

Even the interiors lack the claustrophobia.

It was shot in NY on location

Some of it was location shooting but of that we may have seen some other neighborhoods rather than just Manhattan, They said the PM Division covered everything river to river from 86th st to the Battery.

But the interior were more than likely all shot in the Silvercup Studios in Queens.

As for locations I;m sure that there are many more newer buildings in Manhattan now - so that would tend to crimp where they could shoot as they'd have to pay attention to intrusive and modern looking skylines.

yeah from the writing to the acting and scenery its all very unbelievable definitely doesnt work hard enough to earn that 8/10 rating

character is habitual action, we are what we do habitually.

Every IMDB serious show draws negative reactions these days. People nick pick until its like being nibbled to death by ducks. Get ready to hear about how some model car didn't come on the market until three months later that year, Or the caliber of their guns, or a decoration on some cop's uniform.

By the second show someone will ask if its "jumped the shark, "its for hipsters" "Are any animals hurt, Never mind the people killed, I only care about puppies." "Does anyone smoke a cigarette" "Does the ratio of minorities reflect the population at that time"

The show is not great but its entertaining so far. That's all I ask. I wasn't expecting some dull as dish water documentary.

I don't know everything. Neither does anyone else

I think you covered just about everything except how "cliche" it is. Ugh, people love that word on imdb.

You do realize the post you just wrote used that word, right?

Great post chicago85. Very spot on regarding these boards.

We were on our way to Midnight Mass!

This was disappointing. Looked much more like the 80's than the 60's and was so boring I kept falling asleep. Far cry from Mad Men, which set the bar for 60s drama pretty high.

Actors are mere products of a good writer's imagination

I also lived in NYC in the 60's and this show doesn't remotely remind me of the scene. I was looking forward to the show and I found it really boring. The last few minutes are on my DVR still unseen. I just could not keep my eyes open.
I'll watch one more installment and hope for a big improvement................I go to NYC a couple times a year because there's so much that I miss. When I go to the theater and I look around the Times Square area, I miss the grime, the odd ball characters, and the pornography. The replacement of all that with silly stupid obnoxious cartoon characters is so very sad.

reply

No matter how many mayors try to clean up Times Square it reverts back because suckers show up and there is someone waiting for them. Recently there have been You tube clips of grown men dressed as cartoon characters brawling in front of kids. Now they have women parading around topless posing for pictures. One on the news was letting a man signed her a$$ cheek with a marks a lot.

In the '70's it was people hustling for a buck to wash your windshield. You'd have barely come to a stop after getting off the Major Deegan when someone with a Windex bottle was spraying your windshield, ready to demand a buck for it. Some things never change.

Thank God we moved to PA.
