Did the Dynamites Commit a Crime?

When the Harper kids video is edited and used for a commercial that makes their parents store look bad couldn't their parents have gone to the authorities and pressed charges? That seemed very illegal.

In most circumstances movies and TV shows are not supposed to film people and use the footage without their consent.

I don't know what the rules are for TV commercials, but they reedited the quad's comments to reverse the intended meaning. The Quads also expected that their words would be used in a commercial for their parents' store, not for the rival store. Thus there seems to be an element of fraud involved.

In Any case Tess did not have any sort of legal written permission to use the comments of the Quads for financial gain in an ad for the Dynamites' store. No doubt the courts would rule that a kid like Tess acted innocently but her parents should have known better. Legally they did know better, since ignorance of the law is no excuse.

Thus it seems like the Dynamites could face civil and criminal trials.

Add to that, that the quads are not 18 and so are unable to consent to their images or likenesses being used in a commercial, film or video.
