SPOILER - What did Ellie suspect?
After Ellie's safety and life was threatened and Joel could not go very much about it, all of a sudden in this episode he turns into a mother hen. Something about it seems clumsy. It was logical, but it felt a little like they were trying to lean too far over one way to set us up for the snap back the other way.
Once they reached the medical team, the things that seemed to me so wrong and rushed were
1. They had this theory about how Ellie was immune - but it was only a theory.
2. They were rushing into doing something undoable and destructive right away with no consideration for either Ellie or Joel. That seemed not easy to buy.
3. They took the time to explain to Joel under circumstances where they did not restrain him - thus leading to the massacre of all.
4. Joel did kill everyone there, but thanks to the unbelievable set up it was justifiable, though they make him out to be a psycho.
5. The belief was that Ellie would be happy to willingly die for just a slim chance that this medical theory was right. And even Joel seemed to believe that.
6. On their way exiting the complex and going home Joel's completely changed. He is talking about his daughter and more or less gushing over Ellie.
7. Considering that Ellie asked him to swear that what happened at the complex was as he had described ... how did she get that idea?
8. Considering the manner of Joel's response to Ellie's question of swearing - he seemed to take a while, whereas a really good liar might have acted surprised or even a bit offended, or confused as to why Ellie would ask him that.
9. Finally, are we supposed to know that Ellie does not believe him.
Of course the biggest question is what happened to the outer parts of Ellie's eyebrows. I didn't notice it before but her eyebrows are like a cartoon character's.
Does anyone know if they plan another season of this show? What did people think of this show/season. I guess the best I can say about it is that it was watchable, and part of it were good, but a lot of clumsy offputting moments for me.
