So I watched American Rust before this. Just can't see him going from bonafide cocksucker to Puerto Rican gang boss. He's not even physically imposing. Pretty whack.

He's got sort of an annoying attitude about him, but I don't like any of the cast in the 2021 film version of West Side Story. I much prefer both the Bernardo, and the cast of the old, original 1961 film version of West Side Story, generally. Bernardo in the old, original 1961 film version of West Side Story had far more charm in addition to his willingness to fight, and he was much better-looking than the Bernardo in the new "West Side Story".

And neither of the preceding comments say a word about Alvarez' dancing, which is superb.

A man with a wife or a gun doesn't have to be physically imposing to be dangerous. Even a runt with a weapon and nothing to lose is dangerous.
