Not for me


I gave the premiere an honest evaluation, and while this production is visually stunning, I just can't continue with it. I read all the Oz books as a little girl, and I prefer to keep the memories innocent. This new imagining is not for me.

That's a good point. If we can suspend our disbelief and not have particular expectations, then perhaps we can appreciate it for what it is,...a separate piece of art.

I never invested heavily in Wizard of Oz, or any of the source material, so I'm not at all familiar with the characters beyond whatever was in the 1939 movie. I also like dark and twisted things, so I'm cool with where this is going.

Sometimes it's hard, like BBC Sherlock (we have debates over there routinely about it deviating from source material too).
