The hospital employees visiting the house (spoilers)

Employees come to the house, see the kids, but don't say anything to them? Seems like a very large plot hole.

reply

What do you think they should have said?

Hospital Employee: "Hey little kids, don't be alarmed or anything, but two potentially dangerous old people have escaped from a lunatic asylum! Your grandparents used to counsel them, so they might be heading here to this remote farmhouse where you're staying with two elderly relatives who probably can't offer much in the way of protection. Being a responsible adult, I obviously don't want to alarm you, since you're obviously very young and too sensitive/immature to understand the complexity of the situation, but if you do see these potentially dangerous escaped mental patients anywhere near your family's isolated farmhouse, then please feel free to give us a call and we'll be over within a couple of hours. Now sweet dreams kids, enjoy the rest of your vacation!"

I am starting to think that "plot hole" is a buzz word for kids these days. Just throw it around to make yourself look smarter.

Herp derp, plot hole, even though it isn't.

Yeah, in real life people don't feel comfortable talking about insane mental patients or murders with young kids. What a shock. Hospital employees aren't cops (who WOULD warn the kids since it's their job).

Well, ask yourself, how often do you meet children who don't know how their grandparents look like? While staying in their house?
I don't find it strange that the man from the hospital, when assured by the kids that "grandparents" are just fine, assumed that's precisely the case. At first he looked anxious, but as the girl says grandparents are fine, the man calms down.

As to the lady, keep in mind that she was not a hospital employee, she was a discharged patient. She might have not even been aware that patients are missing.

I only found it odd that all these people made mention that they hadn't seen the grandparents (two people heavily involved in the community) in some time (I think they said WEEKS), had two patients obviously missing from the institution, and not one person--law enforcement or otherwise--puts that all together???
