I don't understand ...
Why has this film got such a mediocre rating? It scared the bejesus out of me!
This is M Night back on form. 10/10.
Maybe had it been a more regular movie instead of the usual "found footage" crap it might have been scary, add to that it's an M.Night movie so people are expecting "the twist"....
Didn't find it scary, and the unrealistic constant videotaping wouldn't make sense in the real world.
Oh and two cameras and these dolts can't figure out how to connect it to their laptops to use with Skype?
But for 5 million, there's no way this movie wouldn't be considered a "hit"
It technically wasn't "found footage"
It was a "mockumentary" - we're led to think it's found footage (where the people shooting the footage typically wind up dead or missing), but it turns out we're actually watching a movie that Becca assembled on purpose
THAT was the Shymalan twist (or at least another twist) - that Becca not only survived, but is the actual storyteller
That distinction excuses the constant videotaping - she's an amateur filmmaker, so naturally she'll have the camera rolling a lot, AND naturally she'll select the "best parts" necessary to tell her story
