THERES not a film that this guy isn't in that isn't brilliant because of his acting. He's done many great Korean and Asian films and now he's finally getting his due in American films.
In Oldboy he puts on one of the greatest performances I have ever seen.
In Admiral he is sick as well making the whole film that much better. I said in a post just be4 this that its is my top 3rd or 4th naval battle film but in terms of all out war along with the story it may be the best !!.. The whole battle is incredible and the weapons they had in the 1500s were way ahead of their times. They had rockets and shrapnel bombs and exploding arrows and incindiary explosives. The tactics all around using the tide and whirl pool were brilliant. The best David vs Goliath film I've ever seen for sure. Man what a damn gem. A definite 9 and I should give it a 10 because for the film and genre I'm rating it doesn't get really better. Just WOW . Choi shows up big time (AGAIN) as The Admiral. Must see for anybody..

I thought Choi's performance was absolutely the strong point of the film. As for the chaos & carnage & decapitation fetishism, I found it all a little video gamey. I guess I like my epics with a slice of depth and a little less siracha. But it was an interesting film, and I am tempted to see more of Choi's work.

Oh do yourself a favor and please see his other films (not really the American ones as much). You will be blown away from his work in "Oldboy" and "I Saw the Devil". He is Fantastic. This is his first role in an Epic adventure and I thought he carried it , and knocked it out of the park !!
