Was This Theme Used Pirates of Caribbean?

(Slight Spoiler possibly) Two things: and request for help. Wasn't the luring of an enemy ship to a WhirlPool used in the first or second Pirates of the Caribbean Movie? (US) Do you think they got idea from this piece of history? And are Whirlpools common- rare- and are they that Strong to suck a Ship In and crush it? Lastly- I'm interested in learning more- Does anyone know best Source of Info on this event, ie time period, war name, events leading up, and post event... Thanks in advance.

LOL! I know you are trying to learn but as much as I like Pirates of the Caribbean but it's a pure piece of fantasy/fiction where the story of the Admiral Yi is not.

I think you completely missed what he was asking; He was asking if perhaps Pirates of the Caribbean got the whirlpool idea in the 3rd movie from this battle. Of course PotC is completely fiction, and this movie is based off of real world events... But As real life inspires quite a bit of fiction... What the OP is asking, is if part of this Real Life Event inspired that piece of fiction in PotC
