Not bad; great performance by Thomas Jane

This movie was pretty solid. It's not something you'd want to pay for, but it's probably one of Netflix's better horror movies.

Pros:
-Amazing performance by Thomas Jane. Worth seeing for his scenes alone.
-Some interesting ideas and twists. Without spoiling anything, there's a good deal of mystery about what the cult is trying to accomplish and about various characters' motives, so it makes for some good moments all the way up to the very end.

Cons:
-Basically, everything else about the movie was completely mediocre. You don't really care about any of the characters, and most of the horror scenes that don't directly involve Thomas Jane's character are generic and uninteresting.

Anyways, worth checking out for free. Solid 7/10 as far as the genre goes.

I concur. This was actually a decent movie, though the current day characters (outside of Rabe) were completely over-shadowed by the cult members. They were simply fodder from the get-go, and nothing about them made me care one bit as they went down one by one. Thomas Jane WAS outstanding.. He really got under my skin with the sermons. Sarah's mother was an interesting character as well, though I understood from the moment they watched her video in the house when she cuffed herself that she was against the actions of the cult, and I'm surprised none of the characters raised this question.. Lol they think she was talking about the FBI "getting inside her mind."

Dear God - he was AWFUL. A flat, over-the-top, pointless performance. I am aware of the person whom he was imitating, but I guarantee you, that he could not hold a candle to the performances of the real Jim Jones.

Have you ever seen videos of David Koresh and Jim Jones? Jane literally fused them both together perfectly.

This is his best performance in many movies.

Also agree that Jane was excellent. There seemed to be more than a little Jim Morrison in his performance, too.

Seems apropos considering the cult did break on through to the other side.

Thomas Jane was incredible. He completely made the movie watchable.

I will watch anything with Thomas Jane in it. He is a very underrated actor. On top of being a great actor, he is better looking than any of these so called male superstars. If you haven't already , watch Original Sin. He definitely stole the movie.

I agree, Thomas Jane was the best part of this movie. The rest of the movie was just so meh. Maybe it needed them to be real zombies, or maybe the budget was just too low. Could have been done better.
