Rank the non-white Disney princesses.
My ranking is:
1. Moana
2. Mulan
3. Tiana
4. Jasmine
5. Pocahontas
My ranking is:
1. Moana
2. Mulan
3. Tiana
4. Jasmine
5. Pocahontas
Just the princesses themselves, not their movies? I'd say:
1) Moana
2) Mulan
3) Pocahontas
4) Tiana
Rank them in terms of what?
shareTheir characters.
share“Their characters” can be interpreted in a few different ways, but in terms overall likability, I’d say it would be:
1. Moana
2. Tiana
3. Mulan
4. Pocahontas
5. Jasmine
Completely forgot Jasmine!
shareOops. Jasmine. Duh.
1) Moana
2) Mulan
3) Pocahontas
4) Tiana
5) Jasmine
I don't necessarily dislike Tiana or Jasmine. Just nothing really stands out.
@Herengone, I can agree wit hyour list. Jasmine would be more towards the bottom.
However, my list would go something like this.
1. Mulan
2. Moana
3. Tiana
4. Pocahontas
5. Jasmine
Moana
Mulan (same as everyone else there)
Jasmine
Tiana
Pocahontas (Because she was a real person that they butchered :/)
Mulan was never a princess. She was neither the daughter of the Emperor nor did she marry into royalty.
She is part of the lineup.
shareI know, but she shouldn't be.
shareThat's discrimination 👅.
Seriously, if you're going to be that pedantic, you should dismiss Pocahontas and Moana as well.
They're not princesses either, technically, but at least they are the daughters of the chief. Mulan has no such claim.
shareAnd why does that matter when it's already done?
shareDaughter of the chief, daughter of king, what's the difference? Their position within their community is pretty much the same. So I think it's fair enough that Pocahontas and Moana qualify.
Mulan is a tricky one, she wasn't royal in any way, but apparently it is possible to qualify through heroic deeds.
Yea well Mulan did receive the crest of the emperor, as well as offered a seat in the emperors council, so she can at least be considered a member of Chinese nobility now. And China is much larger than any tribe.
shareThat's a very good point, thanks!
sharePocahontas isn't a princess in the sense that she married into royalty, but based on tribal she is. Her father was a head chief. In Native American culture, a chief is a king therefor, Pocahontas is a princess. I didn't see a mention of Kida from Atlantis.
shareJasmine was the only princess. Tiana was mistaken for a princess. Plus she was an American. We have no royalty.
shareTiana married a prince, therefore she became a princess. Pocahontas is the daughter of the chief, so while not called a princess, her title is the same. And Mulan received the crest of the emperor, so she's as good as a princess. But all of that is irrelevant, as all of them (pending Moana) are considered official Disney princesses, so arguing the semantics of whether they would be called princess is pointless.
shareJasmine isn't Negroid or Mongoloid; she's Caucasian. Arabs and middle Easterners are Caucasian. Even Indians, although they may be dark-skinned, are Caucasian.

Some Indians are Caucasian, but majority of them have mixed race (Caucasian and Australoid)

"I think I liked it better when I thought Sylar ate brains." -Warriorrenegade
I liked them all as characters. But I guess this is how I'd rank them:
1. Moana
2. Mulan
3. Tiana
4. Pocahontas
5. Jasmine
If Kida counts, I may place her at #3.5.
Kida had to little screen time and not enough development for anything interesting in that movie sadly(plus she seems more like a random last minute weird character then a princess).
But hey at least Moana is a vast improvement over her.
