More Cast Announced!

And so apparently more cast members have been announced for this movie! Those cast members are:
Ari Graynor - Juliette Danielle/Lisa
Jacki Weaver - Carolyn Minnott/Claudette
Hannibal Buress - Bill Meur (guy Wiseau rented the stage from to film The Room)
Andrew Santino - Scott Holmes/Mike
Does anyone think those are good casting choices?

Hannibal Burress and Ari Graynor are pretty great. Specifically Graynor. She's got the right look for Juliette.

I saw Graynor's photo and crap she looks so much like Juliette that it is crazy.

Interesting that all of the casting announcements are coming from "The Making Of" parts from the book, I hope they spend equal time showing Wiseau/Sestero's early relationship with the making of The Room. But decent casting, only getting me more excited for the movie.

Kate Upton has also been cast!

I wonder if she'll have a major role. Maybe, this could be an attempt to become another Parker Posey? Why am I saying this? Well, she's starring in the upcoming film "The Layover," which might be a Sundance contender and "The Disaster Artist" sounds like an indie/arthouse film.

reply

The Layover is supposed to be an R-rated indie rom-com.

reply

she's probably the friend/BJ chick

I don't think so. That would be too weird of casting. She looks more like Lisa than she does like Michelle.

I think it's more likely that she's got a cameo. My guess is either that she plays Greg's girlfriend Amber, but I can't remember what he described Amber as looking like. There's also two girls that try to flirt with Mark in one scene at a fancy restaurant and are insulted by Tommy and leave. I can imagine that the scene in the restaurant will be in the film because it was one of the scenes Greg used to describe what kind of person Tommy was.

Alison Brie is playing Amber. Amber must be living right to have someone as hot as Alison playing her.

Kate Upton is playing the actress who played Michelle. Looking at Robyn Paris' photo it doesn't seem like such a stretch to have Upton playing her.

Some people have said that Robyn Paris was the best female actress in The Room. Using a little reverse thought, I actually think it is going to require a better actress to play Juliette than Robyn, because a better actress is needed to pull off the "not as good at this" stuff, while Kate is a decent enough actress (I saw her in the Cameron Diaz thing) so she can probably pull off playing Robyn, even though she isn't as good an actress as Graynor. Keep in mind that these actors and actresses aren't just playing the parts in the movie while shooting, they are also playing these actors "off set."

Oh my God, they better have Jacki Weaver do the "I definitely have breast cancer" scene. In reality, that would be so unbearably dark, but in Wiseau land, it's another happy go lucky day.

Alison Brie cast as "Amber"
