There's literally no one else that could play Sandy(the script supervisor) other than John Goodman. I remember reading the book and imagining John Goodmanbeing completely frustrated by the absurdity that is Tommy Wiseau.

I pictured Tom Selleck as Sandy while reading the book, due to the Hawaiian shirts.
