What should the comedy/drama ratio be?

So obviously this isn't going to be a David Fincher movie, but I'd feel kinda cheated if this was played simply as a buddy comedy. Should the sense of humor be used as relief of this crazy tale but still be mostly a drama, or should this essentially be your typical Apatow movie that's mostly comedic with elements of pathos?

I would hope it was sort of the opposite of that typical comedy. The humor of the book is bizarre and sort of comes out of a sense of discomfort and frustration a lot of the time. But if it plays too much like you're just laughing at Tommy Wiseau then it would be simply mean spirited and miss the point.

I hope they keep the sort of parallel linear story telling device that the book used. It would definitely help to juxtapose certain moments against each other andkind of explain the odd affection that Sestero had for Wiseau so that you'd believe him putting up with everything later on.

I also wonder how they'll handle Sestero's theory on Wiseau's life and backgroundx or if it will be ignored.

This should be mostly a comedy. Like 60% of it dedicated to the wackiness of the film production but 40% out to be reserved to lay out Greg Sestero's friendship with Tommy Wiseau; his difficulty getting good roles; Tommy Wiseau's background; and I imagine they'll depict Sestero breaking up with his girlfriend.

What's missing in movies is same as in society: a good sense of work ethic and living up to ideals.
