That's how James Franco described the book, so maybe he feels that the script has followed the book very closely. That's a good thing because the book was fantastic.

Meaningless... like saying "the Room" is a cross between "American Beauty" and "In the Company of Men". "Boogie Nights" because it's about behind the scenes of making movies. "The Master" because it's about the relationship between two men, one of whom is domineering.
