Bloodline ending after season 3

well that sucks, the Netflix original had 5-6 seasons planned and all that is down the drain according to the creators, the 10 episode season will air in summer 2017

Hey, at least you get a conclusion. That's something to be grateful for. Any reason said as to why they're ending it with season 3?

TV Shows I've watched: http://www.imdb.com/list/ls072583934/. Any suggestions?

It probably has to do with that whole 'taxing' situation in Florida -- seems like Netflix is doing this one last season for the fans and then they'll fund something else. I'm just happy that they're not leaving us hanging.

reply

its ending apparently because of its budget, according to Netflix the show costs a lot to make, that sucks because there were supposed to be more seasons, this is one of my favourite shows, it doesent deserve to end with 33 episodes

AHHHHH I really like this show. Im glad they will at least have time to write a compelling ending.

This show was the reason I got Netflix. I realize it's expensive but House of Cards is equally as good and they are keeping it. Hopefully some other network will take over.😩

But, they don't have to put up a large cast and crew in the expensive resort area in the Florida keys. I doubt the resorts would lower their pricing for a internet television show. Some of the nicer ones go for $1,100 a night. You can get cheaper rooms for less at the big hotel chains with their 300 and 250 rooms for rent. Some of the cast have young children and may need to lease a house for them and those ARE very expensive. Everything is more expensive there, it's a tourist area. It's beautiful there and unique even for Florida. I've tried to think of an area similar but I can't, to where they could substitute for the keys Southern Florida has some spots but not the small town feeling that matches the keys. The Mooring Village& Spa that's used for the Rayburn resort is very expensive. Almost $1,900 a night. I have a friend who lives there is Islamorada.

I'm happy that it is at least getting an ending and that Netflix didn't cancel it after season 2. 3 seasons with a proper finale is a decent run.

When you're a serial not pining for syndication, sometimes less is more.

reply

What was the freakin rush to announce a cancellation? They could have done it after season 3.I bet they are now measuring all their shows with the success of Stranger Things and others are to follow.

I just couldn't agree more, Season 2 was freakin' amazing but it just wasn't the same without Danny. Writers and producers really made a huge mistake.

Killing Danny pissed off many viewers who are on his side and there're no need for them sticking around to watch his vile siblings. The rest people rooting for Danny just want to see John, Meg and Kevin suffer and unsurprisingly, they're in deep sh!t in season 2 for what they've done. (Honestly, at times I even feel bad for John that obviously you can see the emotional burden he carried throughout the season.)So, season 3 is the maximum I myself give the show to see if there's justice going to happen, whether it's canceled or not.

As for the viewers who hate Danny's gut, there's no satisfation awaiting for them either. By killing off Danny, it took away the chance of redemption from both sides.

If what I've gathered the moral the show's been sending is right and judging from the series name is Bloodline, instead of How to Get Away with Murder, there's going to be serious punishment upon the siblings for treating a family so atrociously and/or at least there's some understanding of Danny's perspectives and feelings as their redeeming quality. I have a feeling that the mother's going to play a crucial part in season 3, who I think is the second-most tragic character following Danny.

I'm glad it's ending with season 3. MASSIVE mistake killing off Danny so soon. Everything revolved around him. There's no way you can go on without him being featured on a regular basis.

Totally agree. 3 seasons seems about right, the longer you stretch it from Danny's death the worse it would get. He was just too great of a character to get rid of so soon. At the same time, when I was watching season 1 I was thinking how it couldn't last forever, the conflict with Danny - it was building and building and had to end sometime. I think this is just a show that was destined to be shorter, which is fine. There is no reason why every show should be 5+ seasons.

reply

i'm thinking the only way this show maybe just maybe could have been stretched out is with a prequel season or flash forward stuff but i'm not sure they could do after that.

The original series of Star Trek was only 3 seasons but look at what has blossomed from it...movies and the Next Generation series. I know that this show won't be the fan loved equivalent it was but just having 3 seasons doesn't make you a bad series either. Later down the road they can do a future one with Ben Mendelson (original Danny) playing his own son and what trouble he got into to get revenge for his father. The actor who plays Danny's son does however, do a good job in capturing the essence of his father and could also go for a revenge plot if it isn't being done season 3.

Yeah this is a good point, he was a great character and really well acted. I mean they used flashbacks during season 2 to fill in the gaps in his story, but it really sucked not having him be a primary actor anymore. I did feel they humanized the other siblings a little more during season 2, particularly John - the family was *beep* up all the way around, but being able to feel the weight of everything as it was unravelling was really compelling. Definitely looking forward to season 3.

I had a feeling something like this would happen with Florida getting rid of their tax credit program. All the other shows/films that were filming there have left and I was surprised it actually got renewed for a 3rd season. I'm glad we'll get a final season to warp it up and hopefully the writers can fit whatever they had planned into the final episodes.

reply

I just heard about this on deadline. Anyway, I'm particularly glad it's only three season.

I'm a fan of KZK since Damages and I was expecting this show since it was announced. I wasn't disappointed when it premiered, but I thought season 2 was very underwhelming. I think the show lost its magic and originality in season 2.

Now that they're announcing the next season as the last, I'm excited. I hope it's as good as the (first) series finale of Damages.
