Didn't they say she was 36? If the son was born when she was 16 he would be plenty old enough to find her and kill her. Maybe since she had money he tried to get some from her and got in a fight and push her over.

shareIf that turns out to be the killer, that her son she had when she was 16 comes back and pushes Kate off a roof for no reason except that she gave him up for adoption at birth... that is a very unsatisfying resolution.
And not very credible either. The show has to be smarter than that.
The first season was smartly written. You can go back and watch it and notice all the things that made Ben look suspicious were really his attempts to divert attention off his daughter.
