Finale is so bad

Like awful...the dialogue was so corny and everything felt completely forced.

There was so much cheese I drank an entire bottle of wine watching it!

What seemed so contrived wasn't that Amanda lashed out at Kate because of the effects of the hormones, accidentally killing her. Any woman who ever had really bad PMS knows it's possible. No, what pushed the envelope was for an attorney -- and not just any lawyer, but a PUBLIC DEFENDER, a lawyer with a social conscience -- to instantly stage a coverup afterwards, and maintain that lie as well as any sociopathic killer, even to the faces of her own family, each of whom she turned into suspects. I'm no saint, and I'm an intelligent person, but if I were in that situation my first response would be to call for help and tell the truth.

Not just stage a cover-up, but a bad cover-up. If she knew they could test a garment to determine if it had ever been worn/tried on, why wouldn't she just wear the darn thing before turning it over? And with all the pictures taken at the party, she should've known that they would know that she turned in the wrong one. And since she wasn't wearing it at the time of the incident, why not turn it over? Made no sense.

I know, right? There used to be rules mystery writers followed, at least in novels, like no surprise clues in the solution that hadn't been mentioned somewhere in the body of the story. I guess all those rules have been tossed away along with basic logic. Like why would a woman so obsessed with getting pregnant that she continues taking fertility meds even after being told there's no hope because she's in early menopause (not exactly true, btw) still be smoking?

I was very disappointed. That comment by the friend that at least Kate was real after Eric lists the failures of his family? It reminded me of how on House Hunters the realtor will answer the complaints of over-budget and no kitchen, bathroom, walls or floors with "but look at that view"!

I actually read your comment before watching this season finale, so i was waiting for that scene. Yeah, Kate may have been a nice person, but she definitely had her secrets and lies, too. The family from the old man down were effed up.

Amanda was still taking the prescription hormones, as well as the pregnancy hormones, so she wasn't thinking straight. I guess she didn't think they would check past her dress, and onto the shift jacket for touch DNA. When all those hormones are flowing, you really can go a little, or a lot, crazy. I know that I did, but I didn't kill anyone. I feel bad for the baby. If Amanda would have told the cops right away, she would have found out that she was pregnant, and they would have been lenient on her (which they probably will be anyway, if she refills with a temporary insanity plea). The family, especially Eric would have not been ok with it, but then again, they did live through a horrible childhood. I feel bad for all parties involved, with the exception of the father (John). I can't imagine being the 1st wife and having to go through all of this, while going through end stage cancer.

In fact just telling a more plausible lie would have done it as well. Something about fooling around on the roof. Why this elaborate scheme, which would only lead to more investigation? Especially since of all people involved, she should have been most interested in keeping the people's noses out of her affairs - her private live as well as her "professional" endeavours, and also what she knew about her husband.

I was entertained.

The revelations kept flowing. That current grew stronger and pulled everyone under.

A terrible job this. And I've seen some terrible things. Children are the worse.

Usually it's easy to determine who did it and why. But sometimes an accident happens, a mistake. And the person who made the mistake doesn't know what to do. Things just spiral out of control because they don't know how to tell the truth. Sometimes it takes an hour, sometimes it takes ten years, the truth comes out.

Det. Ian Cornielle, Secrets & Lies - Australia

During the first hour, I L'dOLoudly.

• I yelled at Patrick when he threw shade on Eric in the police station.
• And I got very quiet, conscious of my breathing during Amanda's reveal, interrogation, and confession. Even though I've known I peak at these she was the killer, I was still hurt for Eric: An abusive mother, a bigamist and swindling father, an extortionist half brother, an idiotic spiteful younger brother, and his sister killed his wife.
• Then to have a sweet cancer patient beg him to forgive those who've harmed him while he was still in shock. She was dying. She'd get over it.
• Got sickened by Amanda's expression of glee during her ultrasound.
• Was annoyed by the accolades lauded on Cornell for solving the case -- when Eric and (Det.) Danny handed everything to her.
• Didn't care enough about John to feel anything towards him other than "retribution served." Both wives are nearly dead and all his children are wearing orange. Look what his wantonness created.

But it has a happy ending after all. I loved the web scene with Eric, Patrick and "Biscuit."

And a not so happy one for Det. Cornell. At least she went out with a bang!

Some have such a low esteem they create reasons to hate everyone else.

Reminds me of what Patrick said later in the show, "I wanted to call Dad and tell him, 'Congratulations! You raised four criminals!'"

You don't really know if sweet Andrea did "go out with a bang". All we heard was a gunshot, and she was holding a gun. Makes for a cliffhanger for a possible 3rd series. On the other hand, maybe this ending was just written to annoy us humble viewers?

I was waiting for the evil twin to show up. And not just one character's twin, no, I would haven given each one a twin, so half of their lies where not really lies but in reality committed by their evil twins, while some of them even cooperated with their evil twins, which is kind of a double twist:
"You... you have an evil twin?!"
*MUSIC FARTS LOUDLY TO EMPHASIZE THE DRAMA!*
"Yes, I never told you... he blackmailed me..."
"No, my good twin, you helped me because you wanted the result as much as me..."
"You helped your evil twin?!"
*MUSIC FARTS LOUDLY ONCE MORE TO EMPHASIZE THE AMAZING TWIST*

What particularly appalled me was Eric refusing to raise Amanda's child. I mean, yeah he would be constantly thinking, "This child's mother killed my wife and un-born son", but..... he seemed awfully cold about that.

You should go to ABC.com and watch the last episode of "Cornell Confidential."

I thought it was stupid for Amanda to plead guilty and not go with the defense of the drugs affecting her judgment. Why the hell would you want to spend the rest of your life in prison if you don't have to?
