Wow what a depressing ending for a Christmas episode...

Anyone else think so?

Look, at this point, as long as the writers keep Walter pining over Paige and not allowing him to move on, and at the same time, rubbing Tim, Paige, & Ralph's relationship in his and the viewer's faces, this show is going to continue to tick off viewers.

I dislike Tim for all kinds of reasons. I dislike Paige because she was not honest with Walter ("Bull poop")

I'm getting tired of witnessing this torture fest play out episode after episode.

Edit: I was not aware that was Tim's last episode.

There are other shows out there if you're not happy with this one. Myself personally, I was glad to see Tim leave, as his character was only set up to cause another rift between Walter and Paige.

At this point, I am expecting the writers to start rebuilding a proper romantic relationship between Walter and Paige hopefully by the end of this season or during a possible Season 4.

Let us hope you are right.

I totally agree, with only PART of what you said.

Totally with you on this... Tim just seemed like this extra person; I think he was JUST there to cause a manufactured 'conflict' with Walter: former nerd has to put up with a former jock. Paige was part of that, but not all of it.

I'm glad Tim won't be there, for the writers to use as a crutch to inject unnecessary tension into scenes. Maybe they'll get back to making the show a little more clever.

Umm, no. This season, there's just been ZERO chemistry between them. I'm 'over' the idea of Walter/Paige-- now, it just seems like she's not interested and he's not getting it. Which makes Walter very unsympathetic. I would much prefer he realize that any chance with Paige is permanently ruined, and try to regain her respect but otherwise move on, romantically.

Sometimes fires don't go out when you're done playin' with them.

reply

Yep I feel the same way.

But since Tim appeared as a character I really started to dislike Paige's character, too. She's getting annoying the whole idea of her "handling" the geniuses starts to piss me off. She's deciding what is right and what's wrong, what is normal and what is not. I remember one scene (it's from a while ago I don't even remember what happened tbh) where she was lecturing Walter about morals etc. (the scene where she was telling Walter that "he is wrong" I don't know if anyone of you remembers). This was the start of me disliking her. I'm just like "wtf who do you think you are?".

Plus the whole Tim-stuff.
For me Tim felt more like some out of place character who just creates drama and a love triangle with Paige. Completely unnecessary. But the whole Paiga-Walter drama is getting so annoying in my opinion. Thy missed so many opportunities it's just getting annoying now! Like... when Tim and Page drove away to this Jazz-concert... What is that writing... Why would the writers let Walter drive for hours to go to them. This couldn't have ended any other way it did. Awkward and completely embarrassing. Like in the latest episode with the picture. It's just embarrassing and can the writers just get over it?

I've read about the Tim actor leaving the show, but I for one will never root for the Paige-Walter pairing anymore.

I just wish the writers would get some new female possibly attractive genius that joins the team who clicks with walter. Paige and Walter just doesn't feel right anymore and I really doubt the writers would be able to create a scenario which would make me happy. The only thing that connects Walter to Paige is Ralph. That's it.

This text might be completely muddled and stupid for you but somehow I had to express my feeling towards this.

Just stop the whole Walter-Paige drama please.

reply

I missed last nights episode but I agree nobilis, I used to root for Walter and Paige but it has dragged on so long I am over it. If she had any feelings for Walter she wouldn't have gotten so involved with Tim. Why don't they just leave the love stuff alone for awhile.

I'm glad I'm not the only way who feels like this.

This may be ridiculous, but I feel like Paige, poked and prodded to help Walter be able to acknowledge feelings and the moment he does, she's like," nope". Instead, knowing that she herself has feelings for Walter and that Walter has them for her, she's going to enter a relationship with a guy that is a waste of her time only to do it in front of Walter.

reply

I like how Penny on Big Bang Theory handles Sheldon. The writers of that show have toned Sheldon down a lot, although he can still be obnoxious. Paige needs to be more like Penny and not be so critical. I agree with the other commenters that the Paige character has gotten obnoxious. This Tim thing is making the show really hard to watch. I wish Walter would tell Paige to get out even if that means Ralph is gone, too.

reply

I felt the exact same way about the ending.

I was really hopeful that the situation with Ralph would help Waige, but I was left down by the ending of this episode. I understand the writers wanting to wait for the “right” moment for Walter and Paige to be on the same page and truly begin a romantic relationship, but they’re really making it difficult for the couple to have rooting value anymore.

With Tim off the canvas maybe Walter can stop with the childish behavior. I really do like Walter and only once in a while have I wanted to wring his neck (the episode that lead to Sly and Megan getting married to get control back from Walter comes to mind). However, I do see how his behavior isn’t endearing the character to most viewers.

Maybe the writers are trying to play off how emotionally ill-equipped Walter is and he needs the love of a good woman to help him navigate these waters, but this ship needs to be righted quickly before Waige drowns.

Assuming this show is really based on the real life of Walter O'Brien like they say it is maybe this is the exact same way it happened for Walter and Paige in real life and if the writers were to change anything around now just for the viewers' benefit they would be being dishonest to Walter's real life story.

LOL! Like Hollywood ever, in the entire history of the world, was afraid to change anything around to be "dishonest" to a"real life story"! Quite the contrary, they go out of their way to change things they don't even have a good reason to change. No, this show has no connection at all to the true life of Walter O'Brien. You should look him up. He appears to be more con man than genius, just for starters.

It's not.

There is no Paige in real life. There is a Walter O'Brien who heads a computer think tank called Scorpion. He is an Irish Immigrant. That is about where any similarity ends.

They need to fix the relation ship between Walter and Paige one way or another. After the last episode I am not sure they can get them back together.

I agree, I wish the “writers would get some new female possibly attractive genius that joins the team who clicks with Walter”. Walter needs someone to help him stop being so childish. Paige needs to get a dose of her on medicine.

reply

I don't really like Paige.I think Walter deserves someone better.

I finally saw the Christmas episode, and I totally agree with Agilis (and several others here)!

I still hope to see Walter and Paige get together, but they have a lot to overcome--thanks to the writers.

In season 1, they were both likable characters with great chemistry. Even if Ralph had been the only reason they got together, it would have been enough.

Now they seem to have morphed into these artificially annoying people. Paige and Tim kissing in front of Walter AFTER they know how he feels? Who does that?

And why didn't the writers just have Tim take the job in the Middle East when he got the offer in the previous episode? Why make it all Walter's fault? That was totally unnecessary. And doing it on the Christmas show was just plain mean--to the characters and the viewers.

I read lots of posts in these threads talking about being glad Tim is now gone. He's not out of the picture folks! When he left, he and Paige agreed they would "make it work". She's still very much attached to him. And several posters are saying they should kill off the Tim character. Won't happen. They don't even kill bad guys in this show. Reminds me of the A-Team in that respect. Even if they did kill the character, Paige would blame Walter for it. She blames him for Tim leaving.

I see only two ways Paige and Walter could plausibly get together at this point:

1) Tim returns and soon realizes Paige has been in denial and has deep feelings for Walter. So he breaks it off. Up to this point Tim is only aware that Walter is in love with Paige. He is not aware how Paige really feels; nor does he know about any of those moments of sexual tension between them that we see in most episodes.

2) Paige and Walter end up alone together in some sort of situation where things are looking especially grim and they aren't going to make it. So they confess their feelings and hook up (or at least make out). Just as time runs out they are saved; maybe even caught in the act. No going back at that point.

I reluctantly have to agree with Agilis. Once again, the soap opera elements of the on-going subplot overshadow the main story line of the episode. And, they do so in what I can only describe...as an intolerably bad way!

At the rate the show's writers are going, there's increasingly little chance of a Season 4.
