Surprised nobody's commented yet about the message boards going away

I was shocked to see the announcement at the top of the board pages. While I also use IMDB to find out general TV/movie information, I've enjoyed posting on these boards for years and will miss doing that. I don't know whether the reason for IMDB doing this is strictly financial (probably) or if it's because some posters have abused (to say the least) the privilege of having this type of forum by posting vulgar things and getting into childish fights with others about simple opinions but whatever the reason, we've only got a couple more weeks to enjoy these boards. Hopefully there will be other places for people like me who aren't on Facebook or some other social media site (and have no desire to be) to talk about TV shows and movies. If not, it's been a lot of fun here on IMDB and I wish everyone the best.

Mark my words. I sure that IMDB will be bleeding internet traffic after the 20th as the message boards is the best part of their website, in my opinion. Once they realize their mistake, however, it is my only hope that they will bring it back, but you never know.

Some ambitious users have already started new boards to replace what IMDb is canceling.

For instance, one can be found at http://imdb2.freeforums.net/

God Bless the resourcefulness of fans! I'm so glad this isn't the end of our discussions.

I think it sucks. I too love the forums and have learned many things from fellow fans here.

There was nothing really to say. The trolls sowed the wind, the trolls reaped the whirlwind.
