Walter and Paige

Does anybody think that the writers will ever get Walter and Paige officially together? It's no secret by now that Elyes Gabel and Kat McPhee were dating at one point, but then broke up after a while only to try hanging out with each other again.

Anyhow, lately it seems that they're trying to get them back together again, especially after the events of "Sharknerdo."

Thoughts?

Woah, never knew they actually dated in real life.

I was looking for a new show with "geniuses" to watch. Found this show the other day and watched the first episode, but I just couldn't get over the silly dynamic between the cop and walter/crew. I don't know, it just seems very forced and cheesy. Does this aspect of the show get better?

Yeah, they were indeed dating. Fun fact with Elyes Gabel (Walter O'Brien), though. He's actually British and hides his thick accent really well in the series (just like how Hugh Laurie did with "House")! Gabel also had a previous role in "Game of Thrones" too but I never really got into that show. Three members of this cast actually do some singing on the side as well. Those cast members include: Elyes Gabel (Walter), Katharine McPhee ("American Idol" alum) (Paige Dineen, the waitress) and Ari Stidham (Sylvester "Sly" Dodd, the math whiz), who has his own band called "DrTV" otherwise known as "Doctor Television." One of his songs, called "Wonderbread" was actually briefly featured in one of the episodes.

I will admit, however, that some of the story plots can be far fetched and unrealistic, but the main reason that I watch it is because I like the chemistry and character backgrounds of the cast themselves. Moreover, Robert Patrick, who plays Homeland Agent Cabe Gallo, is a seasoned actor that I've liked for many years, and it surprised me to see him doing a TV series. He will always be best known as the "T-1000" (from "T2") to me, though.

In summary, this show has been one of my personal favorites for a couple of years now that has provided some good and consistent entertainment...mixed with some drama....but I probably wouldn't call it your cup of tea if you prefer more realistic story plots. In any case, "Scorpion" has been going on now for about three seasons.

Since you mentioned shows with "geniuses" have you also checked out "The Big Bang Theory" or the newer "Pure Genius" (both shows that are also on CBS)? Although I haven't checked out either show, I have heard that "The Big Bang Theory" is quite popular. Never heard of Jim Parsons, but I did know Johnny Galecki from "Roseanne." He played "David" who was the boyfriend (and eventually the husband) of "Darlene."

I enjoyed Pure Genius too but it looks like it's nearly certain to be cancelled, that's a shame, just like Almost Human. So many good shows get cancelled early and garbage like Duck Dynasty, Jersey Shore and 2 and half men go on forever. I also really like Scorpion, kind of like Macgyver and the A-Team put together. It's obviously far-fetched but great action and good characters. I heard Elyses Gabel lived in Canada at some point so maybe that's why he doesn't sound British. Toby and Happy are already a couple so I don't really think that Walter and Paige would make a good couple, they're too different. Nice that the guy who played Ray had a cameo in the last episode. Wonder what the deal is with Ralph's father, he hasn't been seen or mentioned since season 1. Wonder if Tim will ever come back.

That's a shame about "Pure Genius." I had high hopes for the show, but alas, not every one of them is guaranteed to survive, I guess.

"Scorpion" is indeed one of my favorites as well. I like the show so much that I actually own the first season on Blu-Ray and the second on DVD (Blu-Ray not available, which was odd). Interesting...didn't know that Elyes lived in Canada. I did hear something about him moving around a lot though in recent years, so maybe he's the type that doesn't like to be in one spot for too long.

I also really like Toby and Happy as well. Being that Happy's father recently got locked up in jail (very sad scene to watch there) it is now led to believe that Cabe will likely be the one to walk Happy down the aisle as her and Toby get married. I've always thought of him as a father figure to the team and I'm sure I'm not the only one that thinks that way.

As for Walter and Paige, you're right, they are quite different...which probably best explains why their relationship has always been quite complex...as they often go up and down with their moods as each episode airs. Despite those differences, however, it will still be interesting to see if the writers have anything planned for them in the immediate future.

Yeah, Ray hasn't been seen in the show since the episode where Walter proved that he (Ray) didn't cause his fireman buddy's death. I believe his name was "Tuggles." It was a very heartwarming and emotional ending to that episode knowing that Ray could move on without all of that guilt on his shoulders. It was indeed nice to see him back, even though it was just a cameo. Kevin Weisman is his real name...he was also known for starring in a couple of other programs (one was on ABC, and the other was on HBO), but I can't put my finger on them at the moment.

As for Ralph's father Drew, last we knew, he moved to Portland to pitch in the Minor Leagues, although he wasn't doing particularly well with that line of work either. I honestly didn't care for him too much, as he seemed like one of those "getting in the way" characters along with Tim Armstrong, who started out okay, but then got kind of demanding, pushy, and jealous toward the end of his time on the show (not the actor Scott Porter, but his character). Then again, Walter also showed a lot of jealousy toward Tim as well (and still does to this day even though Tim is no longer with the team). With that being said, however, last we knew, Paige and Tim were still communicating through Skype.

On that note, it will indeed be interesting to see how the writers explain all of this in the short or long term.

Oh, they're getting together. They're gonna drag this crap out for 8 years. It'll be great, then it will be terrible, than it will implode, then it will work out in the end. Tried and true tv formula. Been done for decades now. By that point, they'll have introduced two brand new characters we haven't even met yet and then we'll have THAT on again off again romance to titillate us. Or make us barf.

Well said!

That or the writers could pull a "Nashville" on CMT by killing off the main character (usually not a good thing for a show's future). In "Nashville's" case, however, the decision to kill off the main character was due to lead star Connie Britton, who no longer wished to be a part of the show.

Great post by the way!
