This was just awful

The tone of the Thor movies until now has been dramatic but lighthearted. There have been jokes, yes, but clever jokes. Sensible jokes. The first Thor was brilliant, the second was... eh, alright, nothing special. This abomination, however, was freakishly bad. The CGI was absolutely abysmal, particularly the animation for the Hulk, but just in general - yikes. There were all of three recognizable characters, and everyone else was brand new to the universe, with almost no time to get to know them. There are enormous plot holes that don't bear repeating. The entire thing looked like a cheap rave held in an abandoned warehouse. I just do not understand this movie. I didn't enjoy it. In fact, I think I might actually legitimately hate it. The only redeeming quality it had was that incredible slo-mo shot somewhere in the middle. Other than that, this movie has actually made me kind of hate Immigrant Song, and for that, I will never forgive.

Did he at least use his hammer smash

I know, I loved it too. Epic mind-trip of a movie!

What? Sheesh. The first Thor was so forgettable.

reply

It was. I've already forgotten most of it.

Ragnarok was one of the best of the MCU. The only flaw was a tendency to go for humor even when it might've been time to play it more serious, like when the home of the Gods was being destroyed.

Ragnarok was great
One of the best MCU films to date
I liked the humor because it was all pretty absurd and the goofy parts fit right in

reply

Glad someone else appreciates the first Thor.

Bits of these movie are pretty tedious after watching multiple times. I think some tighter editing could have greatly improved it. The first time Thor does the "sun's getting low" joke, it's pretty funny. But then they do it like a dozen more times. Cut that stuff right out of there. The movie does that crap a lot.

reply

They went overboard with the comedy. I agree with the op, the tone was wrong.

reply

This was one of the best Marvel movies to date. Dark needs light to stand out.
