But I think it was more Eric thinking about what happened and where he is going in his life. Like Taylor contemplating taking the plea or not, Eric was having a critical moment thinking about where his life is going.

If he gets in the car, he will continue to hook up with random strangers. If he doesn't, maybe he has a chance somewhere else where he can find himself.

Basically what you said, he is debating on getting in the car or walking away.

I was annoyed by the ending, because it seemed like everyone got what was coming to them except Eric. who is still hooking up?

0w0w, I love Eric's ending then. The fact that he was debating not getting in the vehicle by some faceless individual who can't even stop where Eric is at in the road to make it a bit more personal.

I'd like to think that Eric didn't get in the vehicle.

That he just stood there until the car drove away.
