“American Crime” breakout Connor Jessup is set to return for Season 3 of the ABC anthology series, Variety has learned.
The 22-year-old thesp won critical acclaim for his role as Taylor Blaine in Season 2 of John Ridley and Michael McDonald’s drama. He joins previously announced returning stars Timothy Hutton, Felicity Huffman, Regina King, Lili Taylor and Richard Cabral for the third installment of the series.
“Connor Jessup is one of the smartest and most talented young actors working today. John and I believe Connor’s performance will be even more emotionally shocking than last year as his character helps shed new light on the opiate addiction epidemic that is plaguing America,” said McDonald.
Season 3 of “American Crime” will see its cast taking on new roles for another standalone story arc, this time set in North Carolina against a backdrop of labor issues.
Jessup can currently be seen in “Closet Monster,” currently in Canadian theaters and bowing Stateside in late summer. The actor also recently wrote, directed and produced the short film “Boy,” which also premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2015. In 2012, the festival awarded him the “Rising Star” accolade for his lead performance in the independent film “Blackbird,” and Jessup also executive produced the independent film “Amy George,” which played at TIFF in 2011. Previous notable TV roles include a series regular spot on TNT’s “Falling Skies,” and a lead role on the Discovery Kids TV series “The Saddle Club.”
