Season 1 and Season 2 Confusion

Having never heard of this series before, I came across it on Netflix and took a look at Season 1. Right away I was hooked, all the way through to the ending, which I won't give away. Suffice to say, it had a finality for 3 of the characters, and I looked forward to Season 2, to where it would go. It starts out with some of the same actors playing characters with the same names, and I think it's a flashback to events that preceded Season 1. Turns out no, it's a different story line. Anyone else have the same confusion?

Once I realized what Season 2 is, I got into it, liking it as much as Season 1. Up to episode 4 so far.

I am finding season 2 boring so far.
Season 1 was riviting.

No, it's an anthology series(every season may have the same actors, but it's a different story line with different characters) Season 3 will have many of the same actors again, but it will be a different story line.
