I hated aubrey

Her parents even if not real loved her more than real parents do

even her fake brother showed more love than a real brother does

they stuck by her while she humilated their family and put them through a lot of family would just bail or disown to not deal with it

she was such a stupid bitch she deserved what she got she had it better than so many other girls

one thing that makes no sense is IF MATT was trying to rape her and she shot him why the *beep* would his wife try to hurt her??? his wife was being beaten and this other girl is going to get raped in front of her the girl fights back. The wife would have just called the police or something and told what happened not attack a rape victim. That is what does not add up.

I hated her too... Very annoying girl

Ya, she was the worst.
About the rape story, there is no one left alive to verify her accounts of what actually happened that night. Through the whole show they reveal more and more that she is a very disturbed girl with a lot of trouble telling fantasy from reality. I doubt what she told everyone at the end was the actual truth but rather whatever truth her mind warped it into and she then believed

Yes, she was loathsome, and certain aspects of her personality were evident in the maddeningly inarticulate and vague Taylor, from season 2. I just binge-watched both seasons. Everything is so incredibly overwrought, obvious and beyond depressing. And perhaps I stand alone--because there has been considerable praise for it-- but I find the camerawork annoying, pretentious. All that said, I wasn't bored. But I don't think it's a particularly good show.

I mainly got pissed when she OD'd and got him busted after it was her fault. I thought she was horrible for that but for some weird reason I liked their dysfunctional relationship, although it wasn't good for them. Mostly I like her because she seemed real and she CLEARLY was abused at some point by someone.

reply

I never hated her but I agree with everything else you said. They clearly loved each other, though their love was very unhealthy.

She was a very destructive person. You previous posters are very lucky if you have never had someone like that in your life. The thing is, like Aubry, they usually have something lovable about them. In Aubry's case it was her fierce love for Carter. She was damaged goods, and I think the show was making a point about how abandoned children may be too damaged to respond to a new, loving family.

Are we supposed to believe anything she said in the entire season? Me? I'm not sure I believe any of it. She was a great liar, like addicts always are. Did she really commit murder?

I had this sense that she might be mentally ill and made up almost everything because of her twisted self. Did you notice when Carter admitted he had this made up girlfriend named Elaine how Awbry reacted? They were alike in those ways and both found drugs and alcohol helped them escape their demons.

We're given lots of food for thought.
Not sure what the point of judging her is.
